Long time friend of Scum, local, working class talent, John Paul will be featuring this month! JP is Scum personified, witty, political, raw, offering an uncompromising honest commentary on society & the gammons down the local!

"John Paul is a boundary-pushing artist known for raw lyricism and uncompromising sound. With the albums No Filter and Subjects, he blends sharp social commentary with unflinching personal honesty, creating music that’s as confrontational as it is relatable. Challenging convention, drawing from punk energy, Hip Hop, spoken-word grit, and down the boozer storytelling, to carve out a voice that is entirely his".

They call him the Brian Blessed of poetry 🗣🤣 This months headline poet Jae Jenkins Scott is an absolute powerhouse of a poet with captivating stage presence! If you haven't seen Jae perform before you're in for a right treat!

"Jae Jenkins Scott fuses complicated impassioned performance with yesteryear’s words. Lyrical and peppered with folk melody, his heartbeaten poetry finds rhythm and power on stage.

Aberdeen born but self-confessed latterday yellowbelly, Jae writes and collaborates with the Linklings Spoken Word collective co-hosting SpeakEasy at The Green Room and the Guild Sessions Poetry in Lincoln.

Jae’s first fully illustrated collection, ‘Leviathan’ was released by Impspired Press in October 2023, enjoyed a week in the Amazon UK Top 5 Poetry Books and was reviewed by celebrated Playwright and Director, Wayne Drew, as a ‘culturally rich and resonant new work. Heartily recommended not just to lovers of fine literature but all those seeking inspiration at these dark and depressing times.’

Jae contractually agrees to keep the fourth wall intact if you’ll only allow him to shatter the other three. This seems entirely disingenuous as his ‘Fall of the 4th Wall Tour’ rolls across much of England throughout 2025".

Here at Poetry Scum we're all about platforming under heard talent & strong women. So when James Scott-Howes recommended Nikita Azzopardi we just had to book her! You don't ignore a James recommendation! It's an honour to book Nikita for her first ever feature slot, let's give her the welscum she deserves! 🗣🎤🔥👏💜

"My name is Nikita and I love to write poetry that dives deep into the uncomfortable! Traumas, healing, and the power of connection for those who have experienced similar!

For me, poetry is more than performance, it’s therapy, a way to reach myself and others who have walked through similar struggles.

When I’m not writing, i am training to become a counsellor! I am also a mother to two beautiful children, who are (sometimes) patient audiences for my constant recitals".
