Yemoja Foods now offering Food Doula support for people in the UK.

We are combining our doula training with our cheffing experience to bring an offering of personalised support that focuses on food, nutrition and access to healthy food.

Just some of the things we offer is a series of weekly video calls, custom recipes to fit your nutritional needs, culturally appropriate personalised shopping lists and food menus and optional ready made health forward food delivered to you.

You can combine Food Doula support and Classic Doula support with and

Access to healthy food and nutritional education is essential and our healthcare services do not provide this or if they do, it's white, bland and boring. With food poverty, the cost of living crisis and food deserts disproportionately affecting marginalised people, there needs to be more support that is culturally appropriate and accessible.

We want to provide support to multiply marginalised people first and to do this we will also need to take a limited number of full pay spaces to subsidise free spaces.

Hey everyone! Just a little update from Yemoja Foods! 💚

We have been closed since March due to Covid, as we usually do in person catering and is shielding so we quickly decided to close for this year.

We've been focusing solely on our other work that we could still do safely, running food projects for people with no recourse to public funds, running and Notts Activist Wellness, helping with and being the new Vice Chair of amongst much more!

This means that for the first time in years there's gonna be no Hams this holiday season! It's been amazing having all the messages from our regular customers asking if we are selling them this year and it makes us sad to say no, but hopefully we will be back next year! 🤞🏽

Last year I think we did around 50 Seitan Hams and Chickens as well as many many many bags of Yorkshire Puds! We've updated all our recipes during this time as well and so next year's will be even better! If that's possible 😉

We will make a post if/when we decide it's safe enough to reopen for catering and holiday specials next year! We miss our catering regular especially! Shout-out to people we used to see sometimes even monthly for the last few years, hope you are all safe! ❤️

Thanks for sticking around and we wish you all a safe holiday season! 🤎

Our recommendations if you are still looking for holiday season treats and you want to support Black businesses are:

For Hams, pizzas and other goodies and a business who are also Bajan too 🇧🇧 then check out our friends at

Shop local to Nottingham for things like CBD olive oil and shortbread (which are both amazing! 🤤) at 🇯🇲

A great surprise to find out that this interview I did a while ago with the incredible Afro-Vegan Society got published recently! 💚

I love talking about Afro-Veganism as our own culture and community support in all forms! Thank you to for giving me the chance! 🙌🏽

If you aren't familiar with their platform and the many resources they put out, you absolutely need to follow! 😍

And here's a little snippet from the interview:

'But also Instagram, as oppressive as the platform can be in so many ways, it’s also really great for connecting with other vegans and there are some incredible food bloggers out there. Some of my favourites for food that makes me angry it’s only on the screen and not on my plate are , , , and so many more you can find featured on the Vegans Of Colour UK Instagram!'

I'm working on building the Vegans Of Colour UK platform back up again (I took a big break to focus as much energy as poss on UK Mutual Aid and covid support) but we will be back posting on there soon! 🤞🏽 But BIPOC vegans join our Facebook group too where you can chat, hang out with other BIPOC vegans and share recipes, links and more! 🔥

We at Afro-Vegan Society are familiar with many awesome vegan and social justice activists all over the world, and Eshe Kiama Zuri is definitely one of them! Being from the UK, this freedom fighter sees a different version of the oppression and exploitation we also stand against in the U.S. And not....

Hi everyone! 🙋🏾‍♂️

Just a quick update, we have been on a short break for a couple of months anyway due to long term chronic illnesses and we WILL NOT be trading at all during this COVID-19 pandemic. However we will hopefully find time to make some posts showing our past menus and recipes and work on future projects!

We are putting all of our energy whilst self-isolating for personal safety (due to being in the higher risk category) into our not-for-profit business Notts Activist Wellness and running our group UK Mutual Aid which also includes support threads specific to COVID-19 alongside the outreach, community support, reparations and mutual aid work we've been doing on there daily since December 2018!

Please feel free to approach us with any booking inquiries, but currently we will only be taking advance bookings for 2021 and will be following the national advice for cancelling events if the virus is still around by then. We can cater for up to 150 people and we are a 100% vegan business specialising in British-Caribbean cuisine. Our catering menus are also gluten, soya and nut free.

You are welcome to drop us a message to chat to us about our menus, get in touch for future collabs or projects or join our Facebook and Instagram network Vegans Of Colour UK / 💚

Notts Activist Wellness is our other business (a not for profit community organisation). Please support the work we do with UK Mutual Aid 🖤

🖤 UK MUTUAL AID 🖤

We have decided to create a set of 4 threads within UK Mutual Aid for Coronavirus/ COVID-19 support.

We have Thread 1 on Location Based support. For offering and requesting support with delivering or collecting food shopping, cleaning, lifts to appointments etc.

Then we have Thread 2 on Financial Support for £100 or under donations for cleaning supplies, food, sanitation supplies or other financial needs if self-isolating or unable to work. The group is also open as usual for other financial requests too. (Although we are still running low on financially privileged members, please join if you can donate!)

Thread 3 is an Online Support thread, offering a space for members to link to create local initiatives or to reach out for friendship in a very isolating and lonely time for many.

Thread 4 is Asylum Seeker, Refugee and Migrant Support, trying to find the best ways to support our friends and family with signposting locational support, local group link ups and continuing the work that we do already on fundraising and donations for families we support.

‼️ We also have a BIPoC Hardship Fund which is £50 (discretionary additional amounts available) at a time (you can apply multiple times if you need) with 10 slots open each week and available to BIPoC members of UK Mutual Aid.

Please do join our Facebook group if you would like to be a part of this and the other amazing work we do year round.

We will also be highlighting and supporting other independent, activist mutual aid initiatives and thank you all for continuing to be a part of our community ❤️

You MUST answer the questions when joining the group, else your membership request will be deleted. Please make sure any new members you add are told to answer the questions too!
