The City Council has welcomed moves by the Government to make adoption simpler and quicker, and give all adopters, including gay couples the same rights as birth parents.


Last month, Prime Minister David Cameron re-affirmed the Government's commitment to helping more children in care find a loving family through adoption and also announced that adopters will get the same rights as birth parents when it comes to adoption pay and leave.
