❤️🐴 A very special visit that will stay with me…

Last week, Jojo and I had the pleasure of spending a very special morning with beautiful Val and her daughter Lisa. ❤️

Val was such a sweet, gentle lady, and there was just something about her — you could tell she was a beautiful soul. It was so lovely seeing her reach out to stroke Jojo and take part in grooming her. I gently helped guide the brush with her, and seeing that connection between Val and Jojo was such a special moment. 🥹🐴❤️

What made the visit even more poignant for me was realising that I had actually met Val before during one of our previous visits.

Of all the lovely photographs I’ve taken since starting Magical Minis, there is one photograph that has always stood out to me — so much so that I chose it as the cover photo for the Magical Minis page. That photograph was of Val. ❤️

I honestly couldn’t believe it when I realised who we were visiting. There must have been something about Val that stayed with me from that very first meeting, and to then have the privilege of coming back with Jojo and sharing such a precious morning with her really did mean so much. 🥹

Hearing Val and Lisa reminisce together about horses, riding across the moors and memories from years gone by really brought home exactly why I started Magical Minis.

Sometimes it isn’t about doing very much at all. It’s simply about bringing a little pony close enough to create comfort, connection and bring those precious memories flooding back. ❤️🐴

Thank you to Ashmere for trusting Jojo and me to be part of such a meaningful visit, and most of all, thank you Val for allowing us to share such a special morning with you. ❤️

Everyone needs a mascot… and we think ours has four little legs, a very big heart, and a whole lot of team spirit. 🥹🐴

He’s hoping to bring a little extra luck to England tonight – and we’ll be cheering every kick of the way! 🍀⚽️

Why do nervous systems regulate around horses?

Because horses live fully in the present moment.

They aren’t worrying about yesterday.
They aren’t obsessing over tomorrow.
They aren’t pretending to be okay when they’re not.

Horses are deeply connected to sensation, energy and safety. As prey animals, they constantly read the environment and the nervous systems around them to determine whether things feel calm, safe or threatening.

And humans unconsciously begin responding to that.

When we stand beside a regulated horse, our breathing often slows down.
Our bodies soften.
Our nervous systems begin taking cues from the calmness, rhythm and grounded presence of the herd.

This is called co-regulation.

It’s one of the reasons people often say they “feel different” around horses without fully understanding why.

The horses invite us out of constant thinking and back into feeling.
Back into the body.
Back into the present moment.

For many people, especially those carrying stress, anxiety or trauma, that feeling of safety and connection can be incredibly powerful.

There’s no pressure to perform around the horses.
No expectation to explain yourself perfectly.
No judgement for being overwhelmed.

Just breath.
Movement.
Presence.
Connection.

And sometimes that’s exactly what a nervous system has been searching for all along. 🤍

Magical Minis was born from a love of horses, a journey of healing and a dream to bring smiles, comfort and connection to others.
