Friday 25th April

SEAS OF MIRTH
* * * * * * * * * * * *
10.30 pm

are a high energy multi-genre band with an interactive deep sea twist... from the East Midlands! Fronted by two co-founding guitarists Al Judders and C Ball Paul, the band dabble in everything from worldly dance beats to wonky disco funk to psychey prog-folk, while the visual element is full on too with UV lights, bubbles, flamboyant white costumes and LED sea creatures on stage and in the crowd.. plus a traditional tug of war for good measure. It’s one big sensory experience that has gone down a treat for many years now at festivals such as Glastonbury, Boomtown, Bearded Theory, Nozstock, Isle of Wight, Lindisfarne, Beat Herder, Maui Waui and Camp Bestival.

The latest album ā€˜Kriller’ has been toured up, down and across the UK including gigs with the likes of Henge and 3 Daft Monkeys. PROG Magazine called it ā€œa fun, clever and uplifting experience, like a foam party hosted by Frank Zappa and Tame Impalaā€ and it enjoyed some airplay on 6music. ā€˜Kriller’ and the 2019 album ā€˜Sub Marine Dreams’ form the main base of the set with big grooves, phat bass and catchy choruses, with a few old knees-ups chucked in for extra good times!

band are a fiercely unique four-piece band tearing through the noise with the in-your-face attitude of punk, the lyrical depth of indie, the undeniable groove of funk, and the raw, beating heart of soul. Unapologetic and unforgettable, they’re not here to fit in—they’re here to make you feel.

ā˜… THE YONS

Superlative sonic stylists are the hardy perennials of Nottingham’s rock garden. Following a number of successful singles and EPs, including radio play via BBC Introducing, they complied these releases into the album ā€˜Exposure Complete’, which released in November 2024.

aka Drew Wardle opening this Friday at 7pm at is a singer-songwriter who recently moved back to the UK after living in the US for 17 years. While in the States, he fronted a band for close to 15 years and performed all over the East Coast. As a songwriter he is influenced by Syd Barrett, Bowie, Leonard Cohen, and Sharon Van Etten, among others. Audiences have noted Drew for his powerful vocals as well as his ability to write songs that are structurally somewhat old-school, and with a keen sense for language. Drew draws from a variety of unique personal experiences of his time spent in the seedier parts of life and America.

We’re delighted to have Drew open this Friday’s free Wire & Wool acoustic showcase gig at
