Before the great Christmas wreath rush, there’s a little window of opportunity for autumn wreaths 🍁🍂🍁if anyone would like one? They’re filled with lovely lush foliages, rosehips and grasses and I can include some autumn flowers too like chrysanthemums if you wish. Just to say though, the flowers will last up to 2 weeks (if you keep the moss base moist) after which you’ll need to replace them. You can easily do this with stem or two of something from the supermarket or your local florist.

Each wreath is different and please allow a few days for me to source fresh foliage and get it made for you. They measure about 35/45cm across and are £50 each plus delivery 🍁🍂🍁

There’s lots of beautiful bakery bunches at Upper St Giles and the Bakery counter today so do pick up a bunch if you feel you need a little pop of colour on this grey Friday. As usual, they’re all British flowers, mostly grown in Norfolk but there are some Cornish grown beauties in there too.

And speaking of Cornwall, I’m off to spend the weekend in the south west for a double family celebration: my little sister has a (very!) big birthday 🎂 and my niece is graduating from uni 🎓 Sun (hopefully!) sea and sand 🌤️☔️🍦🌊photos incoming!

Big love to the team at home who are dog wrangling 🐕🐕 enabling me to go on my first big solo trip away in quite a long time 🩷

Bouquets for the bride’s tribe. Here’s a selection of some of the bouquets I’ve made in the last year or so.

How many bridesmaids did you have? I think the most bridesmaids’ bouquets I’ve made for a wedding was 7 and I’ve freelanced at a wedding where there were 10 bridesmaids, all having bouquets and flower crowns. That’s a lot of bouquets to make in one go but how lovely for the bride to have so many special girlfriends.

When making bridesmaids’ bouquets I always divide out the flowers into individual vases before I start so that I get an equal number of flowers in each bouquet. No two bouquets are exactly the same as flowers are not all the same, but doing this ensures you get similar looking bouquets

Yesterday was my last wedding of the year and what a beautiful colour palette it was. Gorgeous soft, dusky, blush pinks and the palest peach to match the bride’s fabulous dress. I used several different varieties of roses including the fragrant ‘Queen of Sweden’ roses grown by Fran dahlias, cosmos, delphiniums and feathery grasses from and nerines, roses, phlox and lisianthus from . The bride was a huge fan of the frilly Chinese asters also grown by Fran.

Wishing S and R loads of love and happiness for their future together 🩷

At the end of the wedding season, it’s always a huge relief that everything has gone well but it’s also a slightly sad time that the buzz of a shed full to bursting with flowers is over for another year. It’s a fine line we florists tread between the excitement and buzz of creativity, making beautiful wedding flowers with the best flowers. On the other side of the line are sleepless nights worrying that you’ve ordered enough flowers, working out how to achieve required results, whether the flowers you want will be available and of course, hoping that you can deliver the wedding flowers of the happy couple’s dreams.

If you’re a bride who hasn’t yet arranged a florist (even for a 2025 wedding) then let me know. I love an autumn/ winter wedding!

I absolutely love a September wedding, probably because I got married in September (many moons ago) and it brings such back happy memories. There’s something very beautiful and mellow about the abundant flowers of late summer/ early autumn. The stars of the show were peachy-pink fluffy asters, blousy dahlias and wavy grasses, all grown in Norfolk, supported by a a couple of imported roses and lisianthus.

Here’s lovely Elspeth’s bouquet from last week. Lots of soft pinks and peach with little pops of orange tagetes, crocosmia and a spot of yellow craspedia for sparkle, finished off with a fluttering peach torn silk chiffon ribbon.

Wishing E and K lots of love and every happiness in their future together 🩷
