Norwich HEART Volunteers

Norwich HEART Volunteers As a charity, we value the continued support and commitment of our volunteers.

Norwich HEART is a charity which strategically regenerates, manages and promotes Norwich's amazing heritage and acts as a best practice case study nationally and internationally for developing heritage as a vehicle for social and economic regeneration. This space is a forum in which volunteers can share, discuss and evaluate their experiences of volunteering with HEART. If you are interested in vo

lunteering with HEART in the future, we will provide all information of upcoming events right here. We of course welcome and encourage feedback and any ideas you have relating to how volunteering could be improved across future HEART events.

Our volunteer community research group, the Colman's Detectives, have been hard at work for the last year on the project. All their research has come together to form an exhibition at The Forum, Norwich, 2-13 November, and a new book (5 Nov).

Come along to the exhibition and discover the stories and real-life experiences that the Detectives have uncovered - the mustard workers’ roles on the front line, the impact of the war on women, families and workers on the home front, and the part Colman’s played in the war effort.

Hello HEART Volunteers! Now that we are now managing The Guildhall, we are looking for ways to increase public access to the building. We will be growing our events programme over the coming months, and greatly welcome any help to supervise events.

The next two events are:

Thursday 27th November, 6pm – Maurice Morson talk on Norwich Murders
Thursday 19th February 2015 – 6pm, Neil Storey: Gothic Norfolk

If you'd like to help out at either of these events, with ticket checking and general event supervision, please contact Madeleine Coup on [email protected] or 01603 599570.

You can find more information about the events at http://bit.ly/DarkHistoryLectures

Hello lovely HEART volunteers! We hope you're all well.
You may be interested in a new community project: Colman's Connections - an intergenerational community project, which is kindly supported by Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Colman’s Connections project, from Norwich HEART and Colman's Mustard Shop & Museum will focus on the history of Norwich’s mustard workers during the First World War, revealing engaging real-life stories about the firm’s employees and how their lives were changed by the conflict. The project is is also supported by Norfolk Record Office, Norfolk Library and Information Service, The Forum, Norwich and Unilever Archives.

HEART is looking for enthusiastic adults, of all levels of ability, who have done little or no historical research before and would like to access training by becoming Colman's Detectives.
