After five incredible years of running Gen-E Networking, we’ve made the decision to close the doors on this chapter.
This has not been an easy decision. GEN-E was founded in 2021 by Rose Steward and Stokely Howard, who were fed up with Zoom calls and feeling isolated following the pandemic. What started as just an idea became a community of over 3000 young professionals, and we were delighted to welcome Rebecca Campbell to the team in 2022.
To date, we’ve hosted over 20 events across Norfolk and Suffolk. Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of working with some truly inspiring people, built a network that we’re proud of, and learned more than we could ever have imagined.
But as our personal and professional lives evolve, we’ve each reached a point where our energy and focus need to shift. Balancing Gen-E with full-time careers and other commitments has become more and more challenging, so it’s time for us to take a step back.
Words cannot express how grateful we are to everyone who supported us: who showed up, got involved, and believed in what we were trying to build. From our fabulous speakers to our wonderful attendees, you are what brought GEN-E to life.
As for what’s next, we’re not going anywhere! Each of us is focusing on our own growth and will continue to be an active part of the Norfolk scene. Keep in touch and don’t be a stranger, we’ll see you around.
