So… I’ve been chosen for a 7-session mentorship with Jasmine Kahlia and I’m SOOOO psyched!! 😩🩷

She's featured me multiple times on her show in the past + I opened for her show in London!!

Jasmine is an acclaimed audiovisual artist and outstanding creative practitioner whose work spans music production, live looping, beatboxing, zines, radio, illustration, and more (literally 19 artforms?!)

Her work has been showcased across the UK, Spain, Germany, and the USA, and archived by leading institutions like the Wellcome Collection and INIVA and has supported over 100 emerging musicians through her curations, commissions, and community-rooted work. 🩷

She’s also on the 2024 WISE100 ‘30 Ones to Watch’ list by NatWest & Pioneers Post and somehow manages to do all this while holding space for others so beautifully 🙂‍↕️

Been craving direction, honest feedback, and space to figure things out as an artist—and this feels like such a kind step forward!!!!🩷

Doing a LIVE IN SESSION tomorrow - Dec 14 @bbcintroducing with the legendary @handgell. I'm playing some of my songs and also invited Suffolk-based artist and friend @ozziehenry to do our song live 💫 . . I had 13 days left on my UK visa when I submitted a song to the new @bbcintroducing show hosted by @handgell for Norfolk & Suffolk. I remember feeling like I didn't have any floor underneath my feet and that whatever invisible string that was holding me would tether and I'll just fall and fall and fall 👁️👄👁️ Yeah, so in between that and stubbornly decorating my flat in protest of potentially leaving what has been home for me since 2017, I wrote in. The song & my story got told on the radio 🤧❤️ . . . . So so happy to represent and be able to tell a little bit about my journey so far, perform my own songs, and how BBC has also helped me get to a place where I felt like I really COULD apply for a Global Talent Visa in the UK (and finally getting a successful result a few weeks ago!) x Please tune in - I know it's gonna be about 3AM in MNL/SG time but if you are in the UK/EU, about 7/8PM!!! One of my favourite things to do when I'm performing is improv. Whether that's dancing/movement or vocals. I rarely do choreography when I perform (definitely in the future in some bits!) But I always enjoy seeing what comes out of me in every performance because it's always surprising even to me😂 ps Been told that I'm posting way too much with the same outfit 🎀I know I've been wearing my friend @luxiq_fashion's design a ton - but that's because I love the way this skirt/dress moves with me & my neurodivergence also means I tend to wear my favourite things until I find a new obsession!
