Please allow me to introduce myself; my name is Tracey Stuart-Hodkinson, and I am organising a fund-raising Gala for St Luke’s on New Year's Eve this year. This is to say thank you for the support and help they have given my husband, Neil, and myself through such a tough time over the past 3 years. Back in 2022, I was diagnosed with bowel cancer, which was treated with surgery, chemo, and radiothe
rapy. In 2023, I was told I was cancer-free. The same year, my husband Neil was also given the devastating news that he too had bowel cancer, and at this point, as you can imagine, we couldn’t believe it had happened to both of us. After three operations, chemo, and having a stoma fitted, Neil was able to live as normal a life as possible. Just when we thought things were getting better, I went for a routine check-up and was told my cancer had returned. In 2024, almost 12 months to the date of Neil's first operation, I too had a 12-hour surgery and had a stoma fitted. Yes, we became a “2-bag” family. I also went through chemo again as a precaution to make sure the cancer was gone. Unfortunately, at the end of 2024, just before Christmas, I was told that the cancer had returned yet again, spreading to lymph nodes further into my stomach. This time, it would not be possible to operate. I am currently going through more chemo, which will hopefully shrink the disease, keep it at bay, and stop it from spreading any further. However, this time I know it is not curable and have been given a prognosis of anything between 12 months to 2 years. I’m determined to fight this and not let it get the better of me, so this cancer had better watch out as I’m coming for you, and I will kick your a**e. Both my husband and I have been supported by St Luke’s with various services, from being able to talk to someone when things got tough, to counseling, complementary therapy sessions, and the lymphedema clinic. All this is available through the generosity of people making donations. So, to give something back, both of us wanted to organise a big event and raise much-needed funding. St Luke’s offers a wide range of services to support people living with life-limiting illnesses in mid and south Cheshire. The New Year's Eve Dinner & Dance Gala will be held at De Vere Estates Cranage Hall, Holmes Chapel. All proceeds raised will be donated to St Luke's Cheshire Hospice. It would mean the world to us if you could make a donation. No donation is too small, and all will be appreciated. If you’re interested in attending our magnificent event on New Years Eve, tickets will be going on sale around May, June time and the evening will consist of the following
• Red carpet entrance
• Complementary drink on arrival
• 3 course seasonal meal
• Full entertainment programme
• Raffles & games
• Carriages home 1.30am-2am
• All proceeds to St Luke’s
Ticket price will be £110 pp (well worth the money when you see what we have in store) Why not fetch your friends & family and purchase a table of 10 (*to be paid in full when booking) we will provide 2 bottles of wine on the table for you to enjoy. Warmest regards,
Tracey Stuart-Hodkinson
