This Friday (9th October) it's another Special Night!! Northwich Folk Club will be welcoming George Sansome and Matt Quinn in the big function room at Davenham Royal British Legion.
In an exciting collaboration between two leading lights of their generation of traditional singers, George has joined with Matt Quinn (Dovetail Trio) to sing traditional folk songs from the British Isles, both unaccompanied, and accompanied by mandolin and guitar. Their well-blended voices and close harmonies create a warm, enthralling sound and their English folk instrumental styles complement each other perfectly. Their debut album, Sheffield Park, was released in 2023.
Supporting George and Matt will be club stalwarts Dave and Fi Ball. Expect a variety of interesting and unusual tunes and songs with personal and international influences!!
The event starts at 8pm. Advance tickets are available via www.danarts.co.uk price £12 or £10 for members.

This Friday (25th September) it's a Special Night!! Northwich Folk Club will be welcoming The John Ward Trio in the big function room at Davenham Royal British Legion. Renowned East Anglian writer, John Ward, has 10 critically-acclaimed CDs and 2 published books to his name. John is commissioned to write songs and music, he teaches and mentors songwriting and his songs are sung and recorded by other artists on the folk scene.
John has toured extensively across the UK and overseas often with his Trio band members, Lynne Ward and Les Woodley. Their performances are heartfelt and authentic, delighting audiences with John’s songs of the Suffolk sea and land, and inspired by his wider travels..
Folk on the Moor, Devon write “The John Ward Trio gave us powerful songs, fine harmonies, skilled accompaniment and a breathtaking bodhran solo from John. The audience loved it, gave them one of the most enthusiastic responses the Club has seen in over 30 years and demanded that they be booked again”
Supporting The John Ward Trio will be Paul Thompson
Paul says about himself “I am fascinated by language - it's one of the reasons I studied and taught Classics - and love creating and performing music: the witty, poetic songs of Jake Thackray and other literate songwriters, and my own material”...

This Friday (11th September) we are in the big function room at Davenham Royal British Legion for a Singers' Night with a significant difference!! Doors will be open at 7:00pm and at 7:30pm it will be Steve's Tunes Session. The Singers' night will start at approx 8:30pm. Steve Wilde will be your host! Looking forward to seeing you there!! – VERY MUCH!! During Steve's Tunes Session Steve will lead us in 11! tunes which hopefully everyone will be able to join in with. Sad sad news!! Rest in Peace, Gerry.

It is with much sadness that I must let you know that Gerry Ffrench passed away earlier this week.
Her music and humour will be much missed by audiences near and far.
Our condolences are sent to Karen, her wider family, comrades and friends. Rest in Power Gerry. The road will rise.
