Guests thought the garden was the event. By the end of the night, five hundred of them were dancing garba inside.
A fountain running in an empty garden. A gilded mirror propped against a tree, blush and lilac gathered at its feet. Pink parasols, a peacock in gold, chairs waiting for people who hadn’t arrived yet.
Then the doors opened, and the whole thing changed.
Live stations dressed in botanical print and floral arches, turquoise vessels lined along a checkerboard floor, by . A bar built as its own kind of theatre by .
Inside the main room: jali fretwork rising behind the stage, birch trees growing straight through it, candlelight hanging in rings above a mirrored floor that held the whole room in reflection. Sound, lighting and screens by — without which none of it would have landed the way it did.
And when .mir and began to sing, the room stood up at once. The garba didn’t stop. Hands in the air, guests filling the dance floor from every direction.
This is what happens when a venue is entirely reimagined for one couple.
