Kevin Keegan and Me…..

I felt sad to hear the news Kevin Keegan had passed away.

He was my first school girl crush!!! When everyone wore Newcastle United hats and scarves….mine were red…in support of Liverpool..only because I loved Kevin Keegan.

Many years later (in the mid 90’s) I got a part time job, working on match days in the Rover Suite at St James Park, it was a right laugh!! Then they moved me into the Directors Lounge…I don’t want to go I said!!!

On my first shift in the Directors Lounge Kevin Keegan walked in…my jaw dropped to the floor and I asked, ‘does he come in here every match day?’ Yes…was the answer. Right I’m staying!!!

What a lush, lush, lush man…I was in awe…a proper genuine all round top bloke…. I was in my element. They definitely were the glory days..The Toon had a buzz about it…the footy was exciting…Kevin Keegan was the driving force.

I’m sure no one will disagree, he was a legend and gained the upmost respect from players and managers alike.

RIP Kevin Keegan, the world of football won’t be the same without you.

So, wish I was the celebrant delivering your life story!!!

What Others Say…

A few weeks ago I received a phone call from a girl in Scunthorpe. Her dad had just passed away, (after living with cancer for 9 years) and after seeing me deliver his Uncle’s ceremony in Gateshead a couple of years ago…one of his wishes was for me deliver his funeral ceremony…in Scunthorpe..!! To say I was flattered was beyond belief..!!

Originally from the North East, Wayne was an avid supporter of Newcastle United so he entered the chapel to Local Hero…the Toon’s anthem.

Although he spent the majority of his life living in Scunthorpe, he wanted a bit of Newcastle included in his ceremony…Laura and Nathan loved their dad so much, they made it happen.

Their guests couldn’t believe they went to the length of bringing Newcastle to Scunthorpe!

It was an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be a part of their day, and it gave me an immense feeling of satisfaction knowing their dad’s send off was exactly as he wished.
