Broadview Flowers

Broadview Flowers Hello, I'm Sian. A small scale grower of seasonal British flowers. Find fresh flowers out on the stand each Saturday.

Or order gift bouquets and flower arrangers buckets for collection.

I tried something a bit different this Sunday. I had a couple of friends over to test out running a bouquet workshop and PYO from the flower patch to see if they are feasible options for next year.

A lot of work would need to be done between now and then - both physically in the patch (hello tiny paths) and all the fun paperwork that goes along with such things - but watch this space. Next year could be a really exciting change.

I'd love to hear from you, if I offered workshops would you like to come and spend time in the flower patch?

And a big thank you to my friends for listening to me waffle on about flowers on a Sunday. I had a great time!

I don't officially do weddings. DIY buckets yes, but bouquets and buttonholes no.

With Baby Broadview due in the very near future we've been kindly gifted so many baby things from a couple we know, that when the opportunity popped up to do a wedding bouquet in return it was something I was very happy to do.
So thank you to L+S for all the baby paraphernalia. I hope today is a wonderful day for you both.

Flower Stand 14th and 15th August

A few changes for the Flower Stand this weekend @ 10 Lincoln Road, North Hykeham

The stand will still be out on Friday from 9, but due to the temperatures there will be fewer fresh flowers than usual (and these may be taken indoors around midday). There will be flower posies that you can take home to either enjoy in a vase or hang to dry to make an everlasting posy. As well as some dried flower arrangements.

Saturday the Stand will be out from 10am instead of 9am and hopefully jam jars and bouquets will have made a comeback due to lower temps.

What have I been up to so far this week? Mostly hiding from the sun once again. Very much looking forward to the forecasted cooler temps of next week.

There's plenty going on in the patch in August but my mind is already turning to next year. Biennials are already sown and coming along nicely. And now is the time for me to plan what hardy annuals I want to get started to overwinter for next year. A lot of consideration is going into changing quite a bit of my growing space into perennial beds. They seem to cope so much better with weather extremes and I think they will be a beneficial backbone to the cutting patch.
So far my perennial wishlist is as long as my arm so there's a bit of refining to do

Not sure how it's already Friday again. I seem to blink and whole weeks have disappeared at the moment.

It's been a little slow in the flower patch the last few weeks. With the weather being unrelentingly hot and also being 7 months pregnant it has meant prioritising where my efforts go and unfortunately letting a few crops die their death (I'm looking at you sweet peas, bane of my existence).

The crops that did receive TLC are getting into their stride so flowery goodness continues as usual.

The flower stand will be out again this Saturday and then every Friday and Saturday for the rest of my season - likely to be mid/end September this year.
I do do gift bouquets on request, just send me a message/email to order. And also have availability for flower arrangers buckets too if you like making your own arrangements.

Picture featuring some left over flowers from last weeks market. I usually breakdown any leftover bouquets and dry what I can, or make up a vase for myself to enjoy. This time I decided to have a play making one larger bouquet
