Sitting pretty in pink 🎀

I'm really grateful to have had my work published in two previous issues of Shutter Up Magazine.

This time, however, feels even more special because one of my photos, taken at a wedding I photographed in June, has been chosen for the front cover of one of the magazine's current issues.

The hottest day of the year and boy did we feel it. - And so did the flowers and candles! However, everyone and everything made it through (thank goodness we used spare mini water vases and left some spare candles for outside with the venue!).

So you’re in the middle of a very hot summer, blue skies, perfect for an outside ceremony.
However the minute you pull up grey clouds appear and gusts of wind just come from nowhere. What is happening here?! There really are times when things are sent to test us but checking the weather app which still states no rain, let’s do this! (with the help of a hammer, extra pinning and wooden wedge blocks 🫣).

This time of year we see all the colours of pastels and brights. But our lovely bride Savannah was to throw us in a mix of dark oranges, terracottas, greenery, whites to soften and a dash of pampas with rustic and gold accents.
Our rustic arch was perfect for framing THE view.

Items we provided:
Terracotta/copper chiffon chair drapes.
Wooden arch with draping and florals.
Aisle runner, pedestals, aisle florals and lanterns.
Pleated table skirts, welcome flower board.
Centrepieces: gold stands with floral tops, lanterns with floral surrounds, table runners.

The great British weather ☀️🌪️
Last week’s weather was sent to test us.
A heat wave combined with flowers out of water in an Orangery and then blustery winds that appeared from nowhere for an outdoor ceremony did’t mix well.
However we made it work and will continue to do so 🤗
The beautiful roses, Gyp and Ruscus leaves shown here ready to go were meant to be placed out of water weaved through glass cylinder vases. At the venue after only an hour out of water I could see the roses weren’t happy about it. Solution - simple - each rose was placed in a shot style glass full of water with the glass hidden amongst the leaves. However let’s just say the outside candles didn’t fair too well 🫠

We had our wooden arch up for an outside ceremony. Even though this is a heavy duty, solid arch which weighs itself down there was a very unnerving slight sway about it.
We decided to move the arch back on to a more even surface which helped a bit but not enough. So then it was down to a hammer and wedge! We wedged pieces of wood into the top joints which then closed a tiny gap and stopped the sway from the winds. Phew!
As the day went on unfortunately the winds just got too much so we made the decision to go back and do a take down later in the day rather than go back the next day and risk that everything been blown down/away!
Always have a plan B (and C!). And always have a tool box 👍
