Having spoken with many couples over the years, one thing I often notice is how rarely seasonality is considered as part of the floral design. Yet incorporating seasonal flowers and natural elements brings so much more character and cohesion to your wedding décor.
Seasonality is sometimes misunderstood as being less fashionable or less suited to modern, architectural designs — but that’s simply not true. When used thoughtfully, seasonal materials can feel incredibly refined, sculptural and contemporary.
My couples choose me because they value a natural harmony between themselves and their surroundings. They want to feel connected to nature, and that connection becomes a meaningful part of their wedding day. Whether you’re getting married in a grand country house, a castle or outdoors, the same principle applies — only the expression and styling may change.
Choosing seasonal doesn’t mean your options are limited. Even for winter weddings, there is far more variety and texture available than most people expect.
And while I may incorporate some imported flowers where they truly serve the design, I always encourage adding elements that are naturally in season around us at the time of your wedding.
Just like in the floral palette in this reel. Gorgeous March wedding, full of spring flowers and seasonal elements.
This way, when you look back at your photographs years later, you won’t just see beautiful flowers — you’ll recognise the time of year, the atmosphere, the landscape and the feeling of that particular moment in nature.
