👋 Say hi to Jana!

Last week, Jana messaged me to ask if she could sell the loom band bracelets and necklaces she makes at our cafe so she could save up to buy herself some books. Of course, I said yes 😊 and I invited her to come and sell them herself. Her response was, “Oh yes, please!”

She created her own poster and arrived with a box full of colourful bracelets and necklaces ready to sell, and of course I was her first customer 😊💚

I really admire the initiative of a young person who is already thinking about running her own little business and has the confidence to stand there and sell her creations. It wasn’t easy for me when I was much older than Jana, so I feel incredibly proud of her for taking this step at such a young age.

I asked Jana to leave some of her bracelets and necklaces in the cafe for us to sell on her behalf, and she’ll also be back on Saturday to meet customers in person. If you’re able to bring your children along to support her, I’m sure it would mean a lot. I’ll let you know what time she’ll be here.

There will also be an Eco Fair taking place on Saturday. It won’t be a shopping event with lots of things to buy, but there will be a variety of stalls from environmental groups, charities, and organisations. It’s a great opportunity to chat with people, learn something new, pick up useful tips, and discover ways to make a positive difference.

In the meantime, we’re open today from 9am to 3pm, and we would love to see you.

With love 💚

This is very inspiring ♥️

A granddaughter has gone viral on social media after taking her grandad to try new experiences. Lucy Walton, 24, from Sunderland, has been taking Andy, 81, to experience new things he's never done before ❤️

She has so far taken the retired service engineer shopping for a new outfit, to try a Bubble tea, pottery painting and bowling. He has also been to the farm, on a rowing boat and for a pedicure.

Andy, whose wife Pauline died from cancer 17 years ago when she was 62, has also joined Lucy for meals at Nandos and Wagamama and watched a Sunderland game at the Stadium of Light with her.

Lucy has been posting about the experiences on TikTok and currently has 280,000 followers. The gymnastics teacher said: "In the last week I've had 10 million views, it's insane! That is from a series of eight videos.

"I've had lots of messages from people saying it's inspired them to take their grandparents out or their grandparents have died and they love watching the videos. I have had such a good reaction.

"Someone stopped my grandad when he was walking the dog and said 'Oh my god are you from TikTok?' He said he didn't think anyone would recognise him like that." 🥰
