Big shout out to the University of Cumbria for inviting me along to draw their Freshers last week, absolutely incredible to meet so many young enthusiastic people in Carlisle from all over the world. Back in Carlisle today at the University of Cumbria’s Fuse Hill campus, drawing at their Freshers’ Fair! 🎨

I had a fantastic time meeting and drawing students from all over the world—including a surprising number of Canadians. Canadians in Cumbria! It’s certainly changed since I lived here.

The biggest surprise, though, was discovering that the building I was drawing in is the very same building I was born in nearly 40 years ago! Almost four decades later, I’m back with a pen in my hand and ink all over my fingers.

Of course, I haven’t aged a day… 👶🏻😂

Congratulations to the beautiful Chloe & Johnny, who were married last week at the absolutely stunning Sneaton Castle! 💍❤️

Thank you so much for the invite. I had a fantastic afternoon drawing caricatures during the drinks reception — providing a bit of entertainment during that part of the day when you’re usually being whisked away for photographs! ✍️😂

I had such good fun chatting with your guests, hearing a few stories about you both and drawing some absolutely hilarious faces. Chloe and Johnny, I think it’s safe to say you both scored a home run… (that’s a rounders joke 😉). ⚾️

It was also brilliant working alongside the fantastically talented Fern Dalton, and what a place to spend an afternoon! Sneaton Castle is genuinely drop-dead gorgeous. If you’re looking for a wedding venue near the heart of Whitby, it’s definitely one to have on the list.

It’s even home to real-life nuns… although there were nun about. 😏

Really, is there anywhere more beautiful to sit and draw than the ceremony room at Whitworth Estate & Deer Park? ✍️

The light in here is incredible, there’s the gentle sound of running water behind you, beautiful surroundings in every direction, and nature absolutely everywhere. It’s such a calm, peaceful place to work.

Safe to say, I’m a little bit in love with this venue. ❤️
