Light up a Life is back this winter and gives you the chance to dedicate a light on our hospice Tree of Lights, in memory of someone you love and miss. For a donation of your choice to St Oswald's Hospice, you'll receive a beautiful card bearing the names of those you are remembering and a star decoration to hang on your own tree at home. 🌟

As well as dedicating a light in memory, everyone is invited to join us in remembering your loved ones at our Light up a Life Celebration Event (in person event) at Event Northumbria at Northumbria University in Newcastle City Centre on the evening of Wednesday 6th December. It will be hosted by our Spiritual Care Lead, Davina Radford, and feature music, reading and reflection, as well as the switching on of our tree of lights. 💙

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance due to capacity of the venue. If you prefer to join in from home, we will be live-streaming the service on our website, as it happens.

We're back with Meet the Team part two 👋

Meet Gracie – Sales and Events Coordinator

Gracie joined Event Northumbria in 2022 after previously working with Northumbria Students’ Union societies and working at several other Students’ Union.

When she is not planning events or working with brands to bring Northumbria students freebies she takes part in Pole Fitness, Aerial Hoop and enjoys going out for food. She is usually seen wearing her trusty Crocs.

Fun Fact: she bought McDonalds to Northumbria where they gave out free food to many hungry Northumbria students! Gracie also lived in The Netherlands for a year whilst studying 🇳🇱

We thought it would be a good time to introduce the ladies behind the Event Northumbria team!

Starting with the Sales & Events Manager - Hannah

Hannah joined Event Northumbria in May 2021 with 8 years' experience in the industry. When she is not planning events, you will find her enjoying holidays and travel, baking, although doesn’t need an excuse to eat cake & hiking or running.

Fun fact: Hannah lived in Austin, Texas, whilst doing an internship with a hospitality management company. Although she admits this felt like a year's holiday and not work.

2022 at Event Northumbria:

📅 Lots of events held with us from a variety of clients
☕ Lots of tea/coffee/biscuits served
🎉 Plenty of pints pulled and prosecco poured
✅ Some firsts for the venue!
🌟Some crazy big event set ups
🤲 Loads of collaborative working
📧 Lost count of how many emails sent and received
😴 Many hours worked

But we wouldn’t have it any other way! ❤

Thank you to each and every client and supplier who has worked with us this year, we can’t wait to work with you again in the future and we look forward to making new connections in 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 2️⃣ 3️⃣

Yesterday saw our first in person Light up a Life service take place since 2019, at a new venue, Event Northumbria in Newcastle City Centre.

Hundreds of people turned up on a very chilly evening to remember the lives of special people they love and miss, as our own Spiritual Care Lead, Davina, led us through a moving service of music and reflection.

The service ended with the switching on of the tree lights, where each one sparkled in memory of a loved one. Davina was delighted to announce that Light up a Life has raised £89,000 so far this year.

A huge thank you goes out to all those who made the service possible this year and to everyone who took part by remembering their loves ones.
