Summerhill Bowling Club & Horse Loom Presents: An Evening of collaborative and improvised music performance and film
David Birchall & SA Malley + an support from Nat Halaseh.
David Birchall is a guitarist, free improviser, guitar teacher and organiser living in Manchester, UK.
Birchall has performed across the UK, Europe, Russia, Palestine, USA & Japan, and having undertaken artist residencies across Europe and Japan as both a solo performer and a collaborative artist as part of sound art duo Noise Orchestra with Vicky Clarke . Birchall co-created the Curious Ear series for improvised music in Manchester.
David’s solo performance will be accompanying his digital 8mm film cycle “Journeys to Peak District Megaliths”
Steve Malley is a self-taught guitar player and singer from Northumberland. Having performed and released music in various forms over the past four decades (and with a couple of Peel sessions under his belt) Malley has shared stages with an eclectic range of artists from Fugazi to Martin Carthy, Lungfish, Michael Chapman and Sir Richard Bishop.
Displaying his virtuosity as the guitarist and vocalist with avant-rock trio The Unit Ama, as well as finger style folk guitarist Horse Loom; more recent work finds him exploring his love of improvisation and free-form performance as SA Malley.
The evening will see solo and collaborative performances by both artists.
Opening the performances on the night will be artist Nat Halaseh.
