A day in the life of The Boxing DJ… through my Meta Glasses.
Day starts the same way every fight night should… a strong cup of tea while finishing loading the van. Then it’s straight on the road, this time heading to Glasgow for an almost 3-hour drive.
Of course that means the mandatory service station stop for a coffee and a quick wee before the final stretch.
What I didn’t properly capture was just how brutal the load in was. Honestly one of the worst I’ve ever done. Flight cases, trolleys and sand absolutely do not mix.
Once everything’s in, it’s time to build the show. Walkout truss up, ring lights fitted, sound checked, lighting programmed and tested. Then before you know it… doors open and it’s showtime.
One of the biggest jobs on the night is making sure every fighter’s walkout music hits exactly right. Timing matters. Atmosphere matters.
Then it’s about reading the room, feeling the crowd and lifting the energy when it needs it. Creating that electric atmosphere is why promoters book us time and time again. Nobody does it quite like we do.
After the final bell, it’s time to pack everything back down. No rushing it either. Every cable, every light and every bit of kit goes away properly so it’s protected and ready for the next show.
Unfortunately my Meta Glasses gave up before the end of the night, so you missed the drive home, the unload and finally getting through the front door at around 4am.
Eighteen-hour day… job done ✔️
