All the food we ate at VCO 🌱

Our fellow traders certainly kept us full and giving us energy throughout the festival! The food is always a highlight as we don’t get to see much of the festival

Why I started my business 🐠🐠🐠

We’ve had a lot of new followers so I thought we should reintroduce ourselves at Saving Nemo - and if you’re not following us then hit the follow button!

Hi 👋 I’m Jess the owner of SN. You will often see my husband Peter at events too (free labour 😉)

We started Saving Nemo waaayyyy back in 2021 not as a covid project but because I was told I was too good at my job to be promoted.

I realised I’m definitely worth more and I’ve been cooking since I was 2 so I know I am pretty good at it

We asked the people of Northampton what they wanted and that was fish and chips!

So Saving Nemo was born

I bought a tiny green van covered in fake grass from someone local and we did the inside up. Unfortunately the gas engineer was a bit of a con man and set it up wrong causing a mini fire on our first pop up.

Plan b - cook in the kitchen

We did this a few times and then moved up north for my job as an engineer

We said goodbye to the van and moved into a gazebo with huge fryers. The van did a stint on Stockton market for a while but we couldn’t find a proper home for it

That year 2023 was a crazy year- festivals, weddings, British street food awards, tv twice, winning NOEAs caterer of the year.

We found a good chip supplier, changed our batter and made the best version of fish and chips we can (so far!)

So after being passed for promotion again! I quit and this became my full time job!

We toured every weekend to a different vegan market and would always sell out but the markets changed in 2025 and we decided to stop doing as many.

We are still very busy with festivals and weddings so if you’re getting married get in touch!

I’m planning something new next month which will be launched soon so watch out for our next post!

VEGAN CAMP OUT 2026 smashed!

Thank you to everyone who came and ordered from us this year! We were a lot busier than previous year and the feedback has been incredible 🐠🐠

Huge thank you to all the staff and last min additions who helped us when we needed to restock

Luckily everything got there in time, even if I had to practically chain myself in FedEx until I got my parcel!

Thanks to our new besties HASH BOWLS for the tunes and great neighbours. 🎶🎶 BambooStreetFood🌱 and Vegan House for giving us stock to keep going!

I’ll be posting in a few days the numbers and what we ate but for now from all the team good night and see you next year 😴😴😴

VCO Breakfast part 2

We are of course keeping with the 🐠 theme with carrot smoked lox with tofu basil cream cheese in a bagel!

I used the cream cheese to make a summer veg galette for a wedding 2 weeks ago and it was 😘

So it’s come back for round 2

We will be open for breakfast around 8am everyday until around 10-10.30. Hope to see you there!

Introducing our new VCO breakfast 🏕️

Smoked salmon eggs Benedict!

Last year we only had 2 weeks to prepare for Vegan Camp Out (UK) so stuck with what we knew but this year we’re going big!!!

VEGAN ZEASTAR Smoked salmon (not the one in the photo)
Poached eggs made from tofu
A hollandaise sauce
Topped on a buttered muffin

WE’RE BACK AT Vegan Camp Out (UK) for year 2! 🌱

We’ve got all the usual suspects:

🐠 Beer battered marinated tofu (it’s alcohol free)
🥔 Freshly cut chippy chips
🌱 Our house made Tartare sauce
🤿 Tempura Calamari
🛸 Plus curry sauce, gravy, and mushy peas

🤫 …plus something extra special for breakfast!

What we ate in Northumberland this week

We haven’t eaten out a lot as we can cook in the caravan (think easy meals so pizza flatbreads, pancakes, overnight Weetabix and a bbq)


Vegan ice cream and pretty much allergen free
The bakes are pretty good too
So good we’ve been twice (and it’s a stop every chance we get)


Cauliflower pakora flatbread and a moving mountain burger. It was great to see something different on the menu. (They even had a haggis toastie)


We wanted to go to the cafe next door as it is a veggie cafe but unfortunately their oven had broken so they were closed 😭
So for lunch we had a cinnamon bun and ice cream 😂 all ice cream flavours bar one was vegan 🌱


Vegan tikka kebab. The kebab was nice it just needed some sauce. Even the salad was dry!
Pete had a vegan frankfurter which was nice, plenty of chips


A trip out isn’t complete for Lincoln without a pup cup. We went and got a hot drink for a walk as it was cold (before the mini heatwave)

SUPER BUSY 🌱 Follow for the best vegan fish and chips

So we have done for 4 years now (I think) and it’s always a good consistent vegan market for us and it’s very local

We have our usual pitch outside, the sun made an appearance and we sold out of all of the chips

When it’s this busy I never catch and good footage (which is why I sometimes bring someone along) so this is all I got today 🙈

Enjoy me putting the heatlamps on the table 😂

We only do a few markets and festivals a year now whilst we focus on vegan weddings

So you can find us this Sat at our usual spot at put the front of the SU at Northumbria uni

Think Tofu fish, freshly cut chips and mushy peas or curry sauce (we will have sausages too)

There’s loads of other stalls including plenty of cake and art items from local vegans 🌱
