Throughout history, women in the music industry have had to fight for space, recognition, and leadership opportunities. Maria and Sam, founders of women-led Marisam Events, are carrying that fight forward by carving out their own space in live music events.

We hear how the pair built Late ‘n’ Live, an inclusive live music event series, overcoming industry challenges as young women, and expanding with support from the Youth Music NextGen Fund.

A huge thank you to BBC Newcastle & Anna Foster for inviting us down to the studio to have a chat about all things Marisam/Late ‘n’ Live 🥹

The star of the show was definitely discussing all the details for our upcoming Halloween live music quiz The Grove Newcastle on October 19th 🎃

But we also touched upon:

• Our priority for creating safe and inclusive spaces, our Shout-Up UK certification, and how important these initiatives are to improve the nighttime economy.
• How Marisam was born! Our values, mission, and praise for our former lecturer Jane Elizabeth Nolan at Newcastle University who enabled an environment for this creative idea to flourish.
