Do you have a sentimental flower???
When couples have their initial consultation chat, we will always discuss preferred floral varieties, and something that comes up more often than not is flower availability!
The majority of couples may not realise that many of the flowers pinned on their instagram boards are only available at certain times of the year.
Common requests include .....
🔸️Peonys' "floral diva's" 💅💁♀️
These are only available in May & June! Outside of this time, the quality drastically drops, and, in all honesty, it's just not worth the risk! Petal-less Peonys aren't cute! 🙃
🔸️Dahlia's & Cosmos
Both a mid to late summer flower. If these florals are non-negotiable for you, a June to September wedding date is your best bet!
🔸️ Icelandic Poppies
One of my favourites, but these beauties are at their best between March & June.
🔸️Anemone & Ranunculus
Both are generally best from December through to April, so winter or early spring weddings often feature these beauties!
🔸️ Eucalyptus
Believe it or not, Eucalyptus can be pretty grim in the summer months. .. although it is available, it has lots of new growth, browns easily, and drops its leaves/ goes crispy. I would highly recommend using other foliage varieties during this time! 🌿
The biggest tip I can offer to couples planning their flowers is to focus on your colour palette and vibe rather than the floral varieties if possible. You'll end up with more cohesive florals, better quality flowers and beautiful floral varieties, which you may not have even considered!
I will always try to source sentimental or preferred florals, but with the caveat that no variety can ever be promised, as mother nature will always do exactly what she wants! 🫠😅🌸
