Not wanting to overload my feed with wreaths and Christmas tunes, after all there’s twenty seven days left for this as I write in which to immerse ourselves in the festivities.
Let’s talk about Winter weddings, more often than not these can be ridiculously romantic and supremely stylish, there are those who want minimalist style, cool shades, abundant foliage and wintry textures, others want the full complement of festive colour, purples and red berries more often with a side of gold or silver metallic accent. The latter works best the closer you marry to the 25th.

Me, I’ll do whatever you want me to create but personally, d opt for a wintery vibe; the cooler shades of green or pure white hellebores, a white cyclamen and a berry be that mistletoe or hypericum, a variegated ivy with a creamy berry is always classy and a touch of navy blue from a steel berry and viburnum for the boys boutonnières. It is the season of eucalyptus so I love to add it in its many forms wherever possible, add a flower for a touch of luxe but only a few, the season of the paper-white is here but I appreciate the luxury of a rose, crisp white, an early anemone or even a single amaranthus. Whatever you do, keep it elegant. In the season of noise and busy, sometimes a quiet simplicity commands more attention and speaks volumes.

I’m in the studio making wreath bases for this weekend’s wreath workshops, moss and wire, buckets of foliage and berries galore. Gathering all the natural elements my wreath makers will need to kick off the season that is Christmas, over the years I’ve gone from baubles and bling to simple and sophisticated, adding in pops of colour from berries and ribbon. Such a pleasure to watch 16 moss rings turn into completely individual creations, same set of ingredients but each with a different personality, a bit like hand writing, we all write the same word with the same ink but the variations are manifold.

I am typing this from Texas, it’s 23°C and there’s a spicy margarita beside me on the table instead of a cup of Earl Grey and it’s only 3.30pm!
But here’s the thing, I miss my dog, I miss wearing layers, wellies, cold walks and central heating; I don’t care whether it’s muddy or if snow arrived early this year, I just love winter at home.
There are some things in life you begin to appreciate more and more as you age, for me it’s these simple pleasures, rituals of just being where you’re supposed to be.
That’s not for one moment not appreciating the pleasure of being able to see other places, people and cultures but I can’t recall the last time I didn’t want to come home.
Home is the UK and it’s green - verdantly so, it’s more often cold and damp, it’s weekends working throughout the summer, it’s Christmas wreath workshops and it’s family traditions that we make over the years.
So whilst I am relishing the novelty of warmth, sunshine and other people’s history, culture and warm weather, home is where the heart is and my heart is in England, short days and verdant scenery, damp grey skies, muddy walks and the scent of a wet dog. I’m almost homesick writing it!
So I’ll place my order for ingredients for another year of wreath making and brace myself for the grey skies of home in a few days.

Meantime, here’s one I made earlier- made for a restaurant the design inspired by food, I used bay, rosemary, juniper, amongst the components and decorated it with chillies, limes, oranges and food inspired elements.

Here’s to stir up Sundays to Strictly on the telly box and to winter in the United Kingdom.
The grass is not always greener on the other side. We might moan but from where I am, I seem@to be missing a jumper and my thick socks!

Here’s to the season that is wreaths and carols.

Too early ?
Too much?
But then again TWHFCo wreath workshop places have been booking up since August, so no, actually definitely not too early, and not too much at all!
Just a gentle hopefully not too pushy, not too Mariah Cary - big Christmas music reminder that actually there’s a few spaces left to join me for a wreath workshop like no other.
Also (and I mean this most sincerely) not only will you make your best wreath ever. But you’ll also get a proper cup of coffee and (drum roll) THE best mice pie 🥧 to go with your epic wreath … (you don’t think I’d come here just for the wreaths), no siree, I’m all over those mince pies!! 🤣
Check your schedule and please do join me on Friday 28th November or Saturday 29th November - come get creative, make an absolute Bobby dazzler of a wreath and thank me later for the mince pie intel.
Full disclosure: I don’t even bother baking my own any more they’re so good! 😊
Get festive
Get ahead
Come make a door wreath with me.
Everyone makes an absolute beauty. (It’s the law)!

November. That betwixt and between month for a florist like me, neither Christmas nor wedding season and yet it’s a perfect month to embrace autumn cum-winter. There’s colour but equally there are neutrals… and this dear reader is my take on neutral: White - off white - green with a sprinkle of berry red without it screaming colour. There’s hellebores and texture but mostly there’s elegance in lighter hues which as the light fades earlier each day, definitely counts in its favour!

If you’re looking for a quiet season in which to marry, this might be one to consider. Low season elevated with florals and candlelight..
Loved this palette more than I can say.

Clocks go back an hour, temperatures are dropping along with the leaves. 🍂 🍂🍁🍂🍁
I drove home from Cornwall last night back to a garden under a blanket of acorns, fallen leaves and all the colours, oh my the colours on our walk this morning were beautiful.
I love autumn, love that I can wear woolly sweaters every day with thick socks and wellie boots! It’s also wood burner and heated blanket season plus I can wear my beanie EVERY DAY! Yay 🙌
I Love all the autumn flavours like cinnamon and nutmeg plus it’s the official season for pumpkins and winter squashes which I’ve grown this year it’s officially pie season chicken pie, steak and Guinness pie apple pie and in a month mince pie ooh and hot chocolate with whipped cream season , roast dinners, baked potatoes and soup season.

Dark evenings and making the most of every moment of precious daylight. ☀️

It’s also half term for many so this week it’s all about Halloween 🎃 oh my gosh it’s such a thing!

Here at TWHFCo I’m prepping for Christmas wreaths and workshops (cue the wreath p**n) as well all this I’m busy quoting and consulting for spring, summer weddings and beyond. It’s bulb plating season too… my gosh so much to do and look forward to.

Happy Sunday flower friends, I hope you’ve had a good weekend, here’s to a wonderful final week of October x

Blue and white can be a combination which if not carefully chosen, can look cold and harsh. You see blue is a dominant colour and yet in somewhere like a poorly lit church can almost appear to disappear in an arrangement. Funny how flowers do that… not play ball!

Blue is not typically an obvious autumnal colour unlike say purple or the obvious golds reds and russets and yet I’m often asked for white and blue in September-October.

On this occasion two of the four bridesmaids were wearing champagne dresses & two in powder blue, so I was able to warm the floral palette with a subtle beige /off white hue but importantly not cream! You see cream has yellow undertones which skews the aesthetic entirely, an off white almost beige rose was ideal alongside grey accents (eucalyptus and now back in season) and astrantia alongside interesting textures such as astilbe and those hypericum berries and the first of the anemones now creeping into season in northern Italy and the south of France. You see as the local flower fields begin to come to a close, the warmer climate in Southern France and Northern Italy begin to wake up enabling us florists to continue to colour beautiful occasions with flowers.

So there you have it, a little window into the thought process that goes into putting a bridal bouquet together, knowing what colours work and which less so.
That’s before I’ve even assembled it to create the perfect shape and size to elevate it from a humble bunch of flaars to an exquisite bridal bouquet.. and you thought I was just playing with flowers! If only ;0)

My wedding season slows down now, although we’ve more best days yet to flower. I’ve been flowering weddings every month since May so am finally taking some time over the next 6 weeks to take a break from flowers, will be back on wreaths before you know it.
Meantime I’m on proposal and consultations for my 2026 weddings - TTFN Linz x

Today we created a pretty entrance for a lovely hamlet church for B & A on their October wedding day. We repurposed it to inside the marquee by deconstructing and loading into the van and driving it down the road!

It always makes me smile at the amazement on guests faces as two women (of a certain age) seamlessly and effortlessly decamp these structures from one location to another. We time these manoeuvres so as not to get in the way and to be as discreet and seamless as possible - always polite, always with a smile :0) 💪💪

My thanks to Fi who for the most part is Robin to my Batman rat TWHFCo!
On these work days we always have a laugh as we flower up these happy occasions.
I’ll be sharing a few more images on my stories from today and over the next few days before I take myself off to Cornwall for some well earned down time.

For Amy who married Nick today a beautiful seasonally inspired bouquet with the last of the locally grown flowers this week from and the Wasing Estate.

October was gathered and arranged in abundance for such a joyful day.
My thanks to for being my co-florist this week and please do check my stories for the other flowers we arranged for today.
Whilst flower farmers are now gathering seed and closing the British flowering season, we florists continue to flower up beautiful days throughout the shorter days and longer nights as the temperature drops, there is so much still to enjoy and appreciate.

So stay tuned for more flowers, weddings and seasonal beauty as I am a florist 365 days of the year.

Tomorrow I gather up the props and begin preparing for another October wedding next week.

I’ve been arranging flowers for couples since the venue opened nearly 16 or is it 17 years ago. I’ve lost count of the number of couples I’ve had the honour of working with over the years. In that time fashions, trends, styles, call them what you will l, have evolved but the most important evolution has been the necessity to become more sustainable in how we arrange those flowers.
For me this has been a gradual learning curve and adaptation and subsequent transformation of how I arrange flowers alongside incorporating seasonal shifts, nuances and transitions.
This weekend just gone I (albeit remotely), delivered my umpteenth show case at Wasing except this time the brief was to only use flowers and foliage grown, gathered and foraged from both the wasing estate and one local flower farm just three miles down the road.
With the help of two fellow florists who often work alongside me, they set out and created the hanging installation over the top table, bringing the outside in.

My thanks to and for bringing the vision to life as they have done so many times with me and to Wasing park for embracing a more sustainable way of delivering weddings and events. This is the way forward, sustainable floristry IS beautiful and abundant, it IS stylish and elegant and it is the future.

Turn to the light and shadows fall behind….

We have now passed through the autumn equinox which means (day)light becomes a precious commodity.
With this ending here in the northern hemisphere, we begin the rituals of hunkering down as nature tips into the process of hibernation. Traditionally we humans celebrate this time of year with harvest festivals and the like. As we enter the season of candle light and quiet dormancy, autumn bows out with such intensity and warmth that it should not be sombre or mourned but instead revelled in.
Colours are rich, vivid and intense developing their brilliance with every drop in temperature; trees shed their summer form and literally fall into a dormant slumber until spring.
This is a time to be thankful and to appreciate the fruits of a summer now gone..

Today’s post celebrates the start of pumpkin season!
Flower filled jack-o’-lantern pumpkins dancing with the last of the summer garden: cosmos, dahlias and crocosmia seed heads et al. Winter squash aka pumpkins ripen as the temperature drops providing us with vessels for Halloween and in this case table centre pieces for a wedding celebration!

These were grown locally by and some of the flowers by and a new flower cutting garden

This week I’ll be gathering more of the season from estate in readiness for their wedding showcase event this coming weekend we have been asked to source our displays from the estate and local suppliers keeping in tune with their sustainability values.

I hope you’re enjoying the season as much as me! 🍂🍁🍂
