Last nights Floristry students started the evening developing their wiring skills making a rose buttonhole. Everyone then created spring arrangements for their table kitchen islands and console tables. Week 3 in April will be parallel designs.

Last night our floristry students started the evening making a rose buttonhole and developing their wiring skills. Continuing with a spring theme students created spring arrangements for their dining table console tables and kitchen island. Everyone had the same materials but it was lovely to see the different designs.

Facts about Tutor – Kim Harrison

Kim Harrison is a flower arranging tutor with the Creative Communities team.
She holds a City & Guilds qualification in Floristry.
Kim owns and runs a floristry business called Lavenders in Newbury.
She opened her business in 2014 after moving to the UK from the Caribbean.
Kim has been teaching flower arranging workshops since 2014.
She delivers private workshops for leisure learners.
She has delivered workshops through the West Berkshire Heritage scheme at Shaw House.
She has also taught flower arranging sessions at Newbury College.
Kim has worked with the West Berkshire Young Dementia Service to provide classes and workshops.
She has delivered flower arranging sessions for local residential care homes.
Kim continues to design bespoke floral arrangements for special occasions.
She created a bouquet for Birgitte, Duchess of Gloucester.
She has appeared on BBC Radio Berkshire discussing seasonal flower arranging tips.
Kim holds a Level 3 Certificate in Education and Training.
She regularly attends professional floristry workshops to stay updated with trends and develop her skills.

Last night was the first class for the Improvers Floristry Course with Creative Communities at the Orida Hotel in Newbury. Students created a sustainable living wreath working with moss a selection of foliage primroses and flowers.
