Join us for Heritage Open Day TODAY!

With free introductory talks about the history of the House throughout the day, you can then visit our historic costume exhibition ‘Dressed for Shaw’ and the English Civil War arms and armoury exhibition ‘Dressed for Battle’.

Come along to explore the House, visit the gift shop and cafe and then take a stroll around the grounds to explore the Tudor Garden and the sculpture exhibition.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari: A silent masterpiece with a brand-new live score
Robert Wiene’s distorted sets, sinister shadows and unnerving characters creating a paranoid, unreal world at a time of despair throughout Europe.

Made in the immediate aftermath of the First World War, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari is the quintessential German Expressionist film masterpiece.

Incalculably influential, the film’s nightmarishly jagged sets, sinister atmospheric and psychological emphasis left an immediate impact in its wake, with horror, film noir, and gothic cinema all being shaped directly by it.

Chris Green's new score is a haunting blend of electronic and acoustic instruments performed live by the composer.

We invite you to join us for a spooky show! The Pumpkin King and Halloween Ragdoll will delight young audiences with a fun sing-a-long, themed games and story time. There will also be plenty of time at the end to take photographs.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!

Lilly Henry’s inspiration for creating The Dancing Stones came from a holiday she enjoyed in Cypress. “I was beachcombing near Aphrodite’s Rock, when I came across these 3 small flints no bigger than 6” each high. I was mesmerized by their captured movement of Dance, like they had been three beings that had been turned to stone but continue to perfuse a sense of dance! Had they upset the legendary Aphrodite the goddess of love, who knows. The opportunity came to turn these little magical stones into large form sculpture and give them the presence that they deserve!”

See Lilly’s work at The Altered States Sculpture Exhibition, on display at Shaw House and FREE to view. Open every day until 27th September 2026, 11am – 4pm. Shaw House is also open, entry fees to visit inside the house apply. The café and grounds are free to enter.

Browse during your visit, Shaw House is open everyday until the end of September. And - NEW for this year - the house will also be open Monday to Saturday through October too! 🍁🕸️ Plenty of opportunity for an autumnal walk and a hot chocolate 😋

As part of Heritage Open Days, enjoy seeing the ‘forbidden corridor’ and basement tunnel in addition to your visit to the House.
