Hello, my name is Jean. I am severely sight impaired but lead a very busy life including facilitating telephone support groups for the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). I am setting up an in person local peer support group for visually impaired people. The group will be useful for finding out about technology and other ways of coping with sight loss but will also provide an opportunity to be with others who are experiencing similar situations. The first meeting will be at St John’s Church, Moffat on Tuesday 20 October from 10am to 12 noon. If you are visually impaired, or know someone who is and think that person would be interested, please contact Jean on 07717412047. This group will be under the umbrella of the RNIB.

What a day 😃 Many apples were squished, delicious juices tasted (every batch slightly different), cakes eaten and the chat was first rate. Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make our first Fruits of the Valley a success and to all the lovely people who came along to supported our community event 🙏

Let the squishing commence 🤣 We've got the apple pressing equipment set up, cakes baked, kettle on and recipes ready.
Reminders - If you are bringing apples to press , wash them before you come and bring clean containers for the juice. Please bring cash for teas/coffees/cakes and maybe a wee donation for the hall. Look forward to seeing you 😃

It's our Fruits of the Valley event tomorrow so today the valley bakers will be busy making delicious treats to serve with coffees and teas. Yesterday there was more fruit processing - apple and recurrent jelly and rhubarb, gooseberry and ginger jam 😋

The first steps in making Bramble and apple jelly for our Fruits of the Valley event on Sunday - part of the jams and jelly tasting / recipe swap (and there will be some to buy too so remember to bring some cash 😀).

People’s Emergency Briefing
You are invited to a screening of a film which sets out an expert briefing on Climate Change and Biodiversity. The film covers climate change, tipping points, biodiversity, food security, health, economic impacts, national security and what we need to do now - both locally and nationally.
The film is based on expert presentations shown at a meeting of MPs and business leaders. It calls for the whole country to do very much more, starting with a televised national briefing led by the Prime Minister to present the facts and the risks
The film (59 minutes) will be followed by discussion in small groups and will be one of almost 3,000 screenings across the UK.
When your children and grandchildren ask “What did you do in the climate crisis” will you just shrug your shoulders?
