Funeral flowers for Henny. The family requested orange to acknowledge his Dutch heritage so I used dahlias in all shades of tangerine, peach and apricot, as well as some cream, white, mustard and lilac flowers to contrast.

This arrangement is made up of three layered sheaves designed to sit on top of the casket. It is entirely compostable and contains absolutely no floral foam, and every stem is locally grown of course. 🧡

An everlasting wreath created for a family last week as part of the funeral flowers for their dad. He liked blues and purples and appreciated seasonal British flowers.

The flowers used in this are mostly three types of limonium, tataricum, latifolium and sinuatum, with some blue echinops, all of which dries beautifully and will be everlasting.

I was touched to receive these kind words after creating funeral flowers for a family last week.

Farewell flowers for David. His own walking boots filled with seasonal stems of sedum, echinacea, phlox, nigella, scabious, echinops and much more.

Funeral flowers can be a truly personal tribute. They don’t have to be identikit arrangements from a catalogue.

I know this weather has been tough on lots of crops, but the consistently dry weather and subsequent absence of slugs has at least meant that I have grown my first ever zinnias.

Seeds from were a winner, of course, and now I have a patch of these beautiful flowers in honey, buff, apricot, pale lavender and soft pink tones.

Under the watchful eye of Jerry the cat, tonight’s task was rose deadheading, feeding and deep watering before the heat of the weekend.

Today, annual flower beds have been cleared, early flowering perennials cut back and some stems for drying harvested.

There is so much going on at this time of year and I’m wearing many hats - growing, cutting, weeding, floristry, sales and marketing, delivering, teaching,...

We are also one of the venues for Mobberley Open Gardens this weekend so there is lots to prep before the hoardes (🤔) arrive. Why not come along and see the meadow looking its finest?

I often get approached by people who are seeking ‘wild flowers’.

Whilst it’s true that I do grow varieties which also flourish in the wild, like poppies and foxgloves, all of my flowers are chosen because of their performance as cut flowers.

Some of them will be familiar, like stocks or these snapdragons, others may be a bit more unusual. I suppose to call them ‘wild flowers’ does them a disservice. Every stem has been carefully and deliberately curated and nurtured, not grown by chance.

We’re so used to seeing identikit bouquets for sale on the high street, with poker straight, unscented roses and a bit of eucalyptus that anything else is classed as ‘wild’.

It’s not wild, it’s just genuinely local and seasonal 🌍 🌱 🤍

Weekend bunches. 💐

The meadow is bursting at the seams as perennials and annuals are in full flower now. I’m especially loving this colour palette of lilacs and pale pinks with a touch of apricot.

I’m closed this weekend as I celebrate some birthdays, but back open from Monday for all of your bunches, bouquets and buckets of flowers, as well as funeral flowers too. 🌸
