It’s the last bank holiday of the summer – a perfect chance to take a break, recharge, and make the most of the long weekend before autumn begins.

🎄 A good Christmas cake can’t be rushed…

It might only be August, but I’ve already got Christmas cake on my mind!

One of the things I love about making Mum’s Christmas Cake is that it’s not something I can simply decide to make a few days before Christmas.

A traditional fruit cake needs time. Time for the flavours to develop, time to mature and time for all those lovely rich, festive flavours to come together. ❤️

Once baked, each cake is carefully fed every two weeks as it matures, allowing those wonderful flavours to deepen as Christmas gets closer.

And that’s before I even get to my favourite part, covering each one in marzipan and icing and decorating it by hand.

I’ll be using my mum’s treasured recipe, just as I have for many years, and making only a limited number for Christmas 2026.

Each one will be:

🎄 A generous 8 inch deep cake
❤️ Handmade from Mum’s family recipe
🎄 Carefully matured and fed every two weeks
❤️ Covered in marzipan and icing
🎄 Individually hand decorated
❤️ Beautifully gift boxed with its own story card

They’re just as lovely to give as a Christmas gift as they are to put in the middle of your own festive table.
