very long post ...
Well… what a 6 weeks! 😅❤️
The school holidays have been absolutely WILD here at KAT'S , and with just 3 more days of HAF provision to go, I can honestly say it’s been one heck of a journey!
Through HAF (Holiday Activities and Food), I’ve had the absolute pleasure of feeding over 2,000 children across Teesside 🥰🍽️ — as well as doing 11+ buffets along the way. I’m completely exhausted, but also incredibly proud and grateful.
A HUGE thank you to everyone at MyPlace Middlesbrough for having me and for all the support. The HAF provision has been fantastic, and although I’ll hold my hands up and admit I’ve got a few bits wrong along the way 🙈, I really hope I can be forgiven!
There’s also been a rather unexpected reason for some of those little hiccups…
My husband Les was rushed into hospital with his liver problems again. Thankfully, he’s on the mend, but it’s been a slow road, and trying to juggle business, HAF, buffets, home life and hospital visits has definitely tested me!
And then, just to keep life interesting… 😂
Unfortunately, I’ve also lost my contract at MyPlace, as the school who also operates from the building now needs the space.
So, I’ve been looking at the possibility of converting my garage into a commercial kitchen. It would be absolutely perfect — it would allow me to work from home, keep the business going and, most importantly, be here for Les if he needs me.
BUT… and it’s a rather large BUT… 😩
It is WAY more expensive than I originally thought! So that plan is currently on hold while I figure out how on earth I’m going to make it work.
In the meantime, I’m going to be looking for a kitchen to rent for my buffet work — perhaps a church hall, community kitchen or production kitchen — basically somewhere I can legally and safely work my magic without needing to sell a kidney to pay for it! 😂
It’s not quite the plan I had in my head, but life is life, and sometimes you just have to roll with the punches.
So, for now… three more HAF days, a mountain of washing up, probably several cups of tea ☕, and then it’s time to work out what comes next!
