MAGICAL BEASTS SPARK IMAGINATIONS ACROSS THE REGION’S PRIMARY SCHOOLS WITH YOUNG READERS EVENT

Bestselling author and adventurer Abi Elphinstone visited Priorsford Primary School in Peebles last Monday, to inspire young readers with her series of books featuring some very unusual creatures.

The Borders Book Festival joined forces with SBC’s Inspire Learning team to open the opportunity for joining the event to all P4 and 5 pupils, via live streaming directly into classrooms across the Scottish Borders during Book Week Scotland.

And, of course, thanks to our sponsors and partners who made this event possible: https://davidyoung.business, Culture & Business Scotland, Scottish Book Trust and the Inspire Learning team from Scottish Borders Council

Last night at Mainstreet Trading Company in St Boswells, festival director Alistair Moffat, and his nine-year old granddaughter, Grace launched their debut book for children – and anyone who loves dogs.

'Molly Mason, the Pet Detective' is set in a little valley that might be somewhere in the Scottish Borders and it tells the story of a pack of dogs, unknown to their owners, who solve mysterious happenings around Windygates Farm. They catch dognappers and birds egg snatchers unawares and track down a missing dog friend. The clever Border Collies, Molly and her sister, Kelsey, like to have fun too, so there is always plenty of chaos as well.
