Update 25th August 2026:-
My, how time flies - I can't believe it's been over a year since I last updated this post!
We managed to gain planning consent for our drainage project in April 2026 after a 10-month battle with Wiltshire Council.
Unfortunately, they have attached numerous conditions, which are beyond my ability to deal with so I am on the hunt for a professional project manager to take this forward.
Luckily, we have three years to work on this so I'm not too disheartened.
Our finances are fairly healthy, but costs are rising all the time so our charges are being looked at with a view to making some minor changes from January 2027.
In the meantime our charges remain as published on our website and on the notice-boards at the hall.
The deposit for private parties remains unchanged at £25. This is charged in addition to any other fees and will be refunded providing the hall is left clean and tidy and no damage has occurred to the building or its contents.
Regular users are invoiced monthly in arrears and are expected to pay in full within 28 days of receiving the invoice. All other users are required to pay for their bookings in advance. Staged payments may be made by prior arrangement with the Bookings Administrator, but bookings will only be confirmed when full payment has been received.
Please note the free-of-charge "buffer zones" for setting up and clearing away for private parties have been removed. Hirers need to take this into account when making their bookings.
If a booking is cancelled more than 14 days before the event any payments made will be refunded in full. If less than 14 days notice is given the deposit will be retained. All other payments will be refunded. If less than 7 days notice is given any refund, whether full or partial, will be at the discretion of the committee.
Late bookings, i.e. less than 7 days notice, will only be accepted under exceptional circumstances and must be paid for in full at the time of booking. If the event is subsequently cancelled no refund will be given.
The minimum booking which will be accepted is one hour with increments of 15 minutes after the first hour.
The minimum booking for a private party is three hours. This includes your setting up and clearing away/cleaning time.
The minimum charge will be the equivalent hourly rate appropriate to the user.
All booking requests will be considered on their merits by the management committee.
Bookings can only be made online via our website www.bowerhillvillagehall.org.uk
Hire documents will be emailed to hirers for printing so make sure you have access to a printer before making your booking.
Documents can be printed at any Wiltshire Council library.
In case of difficulty please email the Bookings Administrator at [email protected]
Registered users will have access to their bookings and invoices via the online booking system, but amendments and cancellations can only be made by the Bookings Administrator.
There is a contact form and links to our page and Messenger on our website.
Bowerhill Village Hall continues to evolve and add new facilities in an effort to accommodate as many users as possible. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do to improve things.
