As many of you will know, the 2nd half of our concert on 29th March will comprise extracts from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. We were therefore especially delighted to see that the The Parade Cinema Marlborough are showing the Royal Ballet performance a couple of weeks before our concert. https://www.theparadecinema.com/movie/the-royal-ballet-romeo-juliet-2/ What an opportunity to watch the Ballet and then come and relive the experience through our music the following week but hurry - the Cinema only has 15 tickets left for their Thursday evening showing.

The Capulets and Montagues are sworn enemies. Yet it is love at first sight for Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet when they meet each other at the Capulet ball, into which Romeo has snuck. The two fall in love and they profess their devotion to each other at Juliet’s balcony. They secretly get mar...

An opportunity for musicians to perform and raise much needed funds in support of Prospect Hospice, a charity who provide end of life care for residents of Marlborough, Swindon and surrounding areas. There is still time to sign up to perform and we are sure there will be lots of wonderful performances to enjoy and refreshments to purchase so 10th May is definitely a date to put in the diary.

To keep us going through a wet and windy January, here's a throw back to our play day from 3 weeks ago. Not only did we have a great time working through Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, we were also delighted to raise £200 to support Wiltshire Music Centre's 20 for 20 campaign to keep youth music education alive in Wiltshire. Thanks to everyone for their support and the committee for organising. What would people like to see us tackle at our next play day?

Another fantastic looking concert in Marlborough this coming Saturday from Marlborough Choral Society

Less than 2 weeks until our Christmas Concert. We have some beautiful choral works, including "On Christmas Night" by Bob Chilcott. We have 3 excellent soloists, sopranos Emma Pooley, who many of you will know, and Emma Watson (no, not that one!) and bass Simon Wells. We have our usual superb organist, Ian Crabbe. Tickets are £12 and available from Sound Knowledge in Hughenden Yard, online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/marlborough-choral-society or on the door.
Do join us for what promises to be a lovely festive evening.

We just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone who braved storm Darragh last night to come to our concert – it was amazing to share the music with such a full house despite the weather and we were pleased none of our contingency plans for playing during a power cut were needed!

This term we have been grateful for our orchestra members and guest players embracing an ambitious programme with such commitment, enthusiasm and good humour. Thanks go as always to our conductor Philip Singleton for continuing to stretch our capabilities and enabling us to put together such an impressive evening. This term we were also lucky to have a fabulous soprano soloist in the lovely Emma Pooley with whom we enjoyed working with immensely.

Thanks also to our committee and helpers who work tirelessly behind the scenes to run the orchestra alongside our front of house volunteers and friends of the orchestra. Thanks as always for the invaluable support of Marlborough College, St. Mary's Church Marlborough, Sound Knowledge, Making Music and The Performing Arts Service of the Wiltshire Library.

Our next concert will be at St. Mary's at 7:30pm on Saturday 29th March 2025. We hope to see lots of you there.

An excellent concert from Marlborough Concert Orchestra last night. Almost a full-house despite the weather! Emma Pooley did a fantastic job as their guest soprano soloist. Now we are looking forward to our own concert on Saturday. Some lovely Christmas music and another chance to see Emma perform, along with our other soloists. Tickets available online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/marlborough-choral-society or from Sound Knowledge.
