This week our MD Jo Ferreday had the absolute pleasure of attending The House of Lords and 11 Downing Street

The invitation followed Sheer Edge’s selection as one of the prestigious SmallBiz100, a national campaign recognising 100 of the UK’s most inspiring small businesses each year.

The SmallBiz100 is a line-up of 100 brilliant small businesses from all over the country, which are being highlighted as part of the Small Business Saturday campaign.

The reception, hosted during a week that champions the vital contribution of small businesses to the UK economy, brought together entrepreneurs, innovators and creatives from across the country. Attendees were welcomed into two of the UK’s most historic and significant buildings, marking a memorable moment for Sheer Edge’s co-founder and a highlight in the company’s nearly ten-year journey.

Now in its 13th year, Small Business Saturday UK continues to spotlight the achievements, resilience and impact of small businesses. This year’s celebration culminates today Saturday 6th December, encouraging communities nationwide to support small, independent enterprises.

Michelle Ovens CBE, Director of Small Business Saturday UK, said:

“Small businesses like Sheer Edge create incredible value in their communities and as the research shows are among the nation’s favourites. We are so glad to have celebrated them at the House of Lords this week.

“It is so important we get behind our small businesses - public support for entrepreneurs can make all the difference. This Small Business Saturday, we encourage everyone to support their favourite independents, on the day and beyond.”

A grassroots, not-for-profit campaign, Small Business Saturday was originally founded by American Express in the U.S. in 2010. American Express remains the principal supporter of the campaign in the UK, as part of its ongoing support of the UK high street and commitment to encouraging consumers to shop small.

Co-founder Jo Ferreday expressed her gratitude and pride in Sheer Edge’s recognition and the platform it provides for small business advocacy:

“Being invited to the House of Lords and 11 Downing Street as part of the SmallBiz100 is something I’ll never forget. To stand alongside so many passionate, talented business owners was incredibly inspiring. Small businesses really are the backbone of our economy and it’s vital that they continue to receive the support, visibility and opportunities they deserve to grow. On Friday evening both Sheer Edge co-founders were in attendance at the NNBN - The Northamptonshire Business Network Awards held at Hilton Northampton

Sheer Edge were very proud to be finalists in the North Northamptonshire Enterprise category, sponsored by Tresham College (Part of The Bedford College Group)

There were many finalists and guests in the room and the atmosphere was really warm, inviting and welcoming.

We know how much time and effort goes into running events like this.

Always working so hard in the background to support our clients to achieve exceptional events.

So we fully appreciated being on the other side of the event organising for one evening!

It was great to see so many familiar faces and fantastic Northamptonshire businesses out to support the finalists.

We had a wonderful, supportive table and are so very proud to say that we won our category 🎊

In our view, all of the finalists are winners and fantastic at what they do so congratulations to them all!

HUGE thank you to Nick Freeman you captured the best parts of the night as always and congratulations for your award win, it was richly deserved! 👏 📸

Let's be really honest with each other today

Unless you are an event organiser

The chances are that when you attend an event

You don't really consider the sheer months of planning meetings, site visits, discussions on how to deliver an event, and maximise on previous years.

From negotiating contracts, selecting the right AV/Production and entertainment partners to help deliver something special.

Arranging all the intricate details to really enhance the event.

An event planner's work is never done!

Then you arrive at the setup for your event date

Making sure everything is in working order and any pre-event tests are done way ahead of time.

Right through to the finest details that are needed for the seamless transition between the day event to the nighttime event

At Sheer Edge we always work with our clients to deliver exceptional events, working with them in the background supporting them to achieve their event vision.

We are always really proud when our clients say that they appreciated all of the efforts we go to.

That our event partners went above and beyond to deliver something great.

As another very week starts to ramp up again
