October has begun with beautiful blue skies which are helping to keep the dahlia, zinnia and cosmos going as the end of the cut flower season approaches,
I always enjoy the mellow days of October and watching the garden slowly getting ready for a well deserved sleep! Meanwhile the gardener just keeps on going with seed sewing, flower bed clearing and mulching ready for next year ...

It's that time of year when I begin to feel that every flower I cut is particularly precious as the flower garden starts to slow down.
Autumn blooms are especially showy with their beautiful shapes and bold colours - each morning as I venture into the garden with my snips, it's like searching for treasure!
I'm busily dead - heading as I go and hope to be cutting fresh flowers well into October.
Flower bed clearing jobs have started too and it's always very exciting to see self - sown hardy annual seedlings appearing ready for next year (one less job for me πŸ˜‰). 🌱🌱🌱❀️

We are delighted to have been awarded 1st place for the most environmentally friendly garden in Market Drayton.
I need to say thank you to all the butterflies who supported me on the day the judges came to visit and to Mochi who is always on hand to help!

It's been a tough year for flower farmers with weeks of drought conditions and endless watering but now the rain is back...

It's been a tough year for flower farmers with weeks of drought conditions and endless watering but now the rain is back and the blooms are still going, with the sunflowers, dahlia and zinnia looking more beautiful than ever. Feeling very grateful ❀️
