When was the last time you had some time off without still going through your to-do list in your head??

Taking time out isn't lazy - I think its sooo important!

You don't have to "earn" rest by completing absolutely everything first, because lets be realistic when you're running a business and managing a home, when is everything EVER finished?

There will always be another email. Another load of washing. Another piece of admin. Another job for tomorrow.

Rest gives us space to think, reset and come back with a clearer head. My favourites are riding my horse, Sea Scrub Sauna, or Hot Pod Yoga - all of which I cannot do whilst using my phone - so its proper down time!

If your diary is constantly full maybe something needs to come OFF the list....

Delegate it. Outsource it. Postpone it. Or – I'm throwing it out there – decide it doesn't actually need doing at all 🤣🤣

A little break down for you today......

What's the difference of a VA on a retainer, or ad hoc so you can just use one when you need them?

The answer is… it depends on your needs

🔹 Ad hoc support is perfect for those one-off jobs. A spreadsheet that needs sorting, research, data entry, documents that need creating, systems that need tidying or a project you simply don't have time to tackle.

🔹 Retainer support is better for ongoing tasks – regular inbox management, newsletters & blogs, client admin, diary management, social media scheduling or those recurring jobs that need doing every week or month.

Neither option is "better".

It's about finding the type of support that works for YOUR business.

You might need an extra pair of hands every week. Sometimes you just need someone to come in, sort something out and hand it back.

☀️ This month I'm switching off for TWO whole weeks…

I'm heading to Florida to celebrate my hubby's 50th birthday! ✈️🌴

But taking two weeks away when you run your own business does make you think…

Could your business cope without you?

So much of what we do as business owners lives inside our heads – the passwords, processes, deadlines, client information, little jobs that need doing and the things that apparently only we know how to do.

It isn't until we're preparing to go away that we realise quite how much relies on us.

My October blog is all about:

✨ Actually switching OFF when you're away
✨ And why rest is productive too

Our businesses are supposed to fit into our lives – not become our entire lives - I am a HUGE believer in this!

I was away with the girls this weekend and the common theme? .... everyone feels a bit overwhelmed with how busy life is ......

Does anyone else sometimes feel like their brain has 137 tabs open at once?

Work. Children. Pets. Appointments. School dates. Emails. Birthdays. Food shopping. Washing. Christmas. That form you need to fill in. The present you need to buy. The client you need to reply to… oh and don't forget to take your vitamins, exercise, eat enough protein, do your skincare and get 8hrs of sleep!

And somehow you're also supposed to remember where everyone left their shoes too. 😂

For so many women, it's not just about physically doing everything – it's the mental load of remembering, planning and anticipating it all.

That's why I'm such a big believer in outsourcing where you can. 💫✨

That might mean using a VA in your business. It might mean getting a cleaner or gardener. Ordering your food shopping online. Paying someone to wrap the Christmas presents. Or simply asking someone else in the household to take full responsibility for something.

You don't get extra points for doing everything yourself!!

Taking something OFF your list is far more valuable than becoming better at managing the list.

I don’t know about you but September feels more like a new year than January does for me! 🤷🏻‍♀️

I love a good sort out, digital detox and full on organisation, all topped off with planning the next 3 months and getting Christmas sorted! Yep I said it! But in marketing Christmas basically starts now!! 🤪
