Product Safety & Transparency Matters 🎈
We believe in being completely open about the products we use and supply. That’s why we’re happy to share test reports and safety information whenever possible.
For example, independent laboratories such as SGS carry out detailed testing on products, including checks for substances like nitrosamines.
👉 If you ever have the opportunity, it’s worth reviewing test reports to understand exactly what’s being used in the products you handle. I have a copy of Kalisans test results for you all to see. I use Kalisans balloon as one of my main manufacturers alongside Sempertex.
A Note to Fellow Professionals
While regulations do exist, they aren’t the same everywhere:
• Some regions (like the EU) have strict safety standards
• Others have more relaxed regulations
• Lower-quality products can still enter the market
• In some cases, higher profit margins can mean safety is overlooked
As decorators, business owners, and event professionals, we all have a responsibility to prioritise safety — especially when working with clients and children.
What I will always ask my suppliers
Always feel confident asking for proper documentation. This can include:
• Nitrosamine testing (EN 71-12)
• Toxicology reports
• Migration testing results
• Certification from recognised independent labs (such as SGS)
If this information isn’t available, it’s worth questioning whether the product meets the standards you want to uphold.
