✨ LET’S WELCOME EMMA! ✨

One of our Events Assistant vacancies has officially been filled! 🥳

Emma joined us for her first event and got stuck straight in — and this was her very first display with us! 😍🎈

She did such a fab job, and we’re really excited to have her joining The Balloon Lady team. 💕

There’s a LOT to learn behind the scenes of what we do, but she absolutely smashed her first one. 🙌

I’m actually disgusted that I even need to write this.

Today, somebody decided to comment on a photo of our work and publicly call it “awful.”

Not “this isn’t my taste.” Not “I personally would have done it differently.” AWFUL.

On a small business’s page. Underneath work that a customer had paid for, received and was perfectly happy with.

I genuinely cannot comprehend what possesses someone to look at another person’s work and think, “Do you know what I’m going to do today? I’m going to publicly tell them their work is awful.”

That isn’t constructive criticism. It isn’t advice. It’s just bloody rude.

We work in a creative industry. Of course somebody else might have done it differently. I see work every single day that isn’t personally to my taste…and do you know what I do? I scroll past it. Because I’m an adult and I understand that my personal preference isn’t an invitation to humiliate another business.

Small businesses have real people behind them. We work ridiculous hours, put our money, time and energy into what we do, and most of us are just trying to earn a living and make our customers happy.

So to deliberately go onto somebody’s business page and describe their work as “awful”, completely unsolicited, is absolutely disgusting behaviour.

You don’t have to like my work. You don’t have to book me. You don’t even have to understand why somebody else loves it.

But basic manners cost absolutely nothing.

And if your first instinct when you see another small business succeeding is to publicly try and knock them down, I think that says considerably more about you than it ever will about their work. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Or maybe it’s jealousy that I have built an absolutely incredible business that is FULLY BOOKED every weekend, even throughout the winter months. All from scratch. All by myself I built this!

A little business update from us 🤍

As we head into the end of October, our team is going to be a little smaller than usual while we recruit some new faces.

Because of this, I’m temporarily putting a pause on in-person wedding meetings for weddings taking place from December onwards. If your wedding is before December, don’t worry — we’ll still arrange a meeting where needed.

For later weddings, everything else will continue as normal — quotes, planning, emails, questionnaires and all the behind-the-scenes bits. I just need to be sensible with where my time is going while we’re a smaller team.

We’re also recruiting! 👀

We’re currently looking for:
✨ An Events Manager
✨ Two zero-hour Events Assistants

These are very hands-on roles involving event set-ups, collections, weekends, weekdays and some very early mornings/late nights — so we’re looking for genuinely flexible people who want to become part of our little team long-term.

Hopefully it won’t be long before we’ve found the right people and wedding meetings can go back to normal. 🤍
