Hello!

Just a little post about our upcoming Ube day happening next weekend! After the success of our first Ube day earlier in the year, we are doing another one to round off our 3rd bday and wave good bye to August!

We will be having Ube donuts by Dghnut (based in Mackie Mayor), lots of Ube Cakes, cookies and a whole range of other Ube and Filipino desserts! 💜🇵🇭

We are currently taking pre orders for our Ube donuts and the last day to do your pre orders is this Friday!
Or if you arrive early next weekend, we will have some donuts on sale but we are doing pre orders as people missed out last time!

What is Ube? 💜
Ube is a purple yam indigenous to The Philippines! It's grown in popularity globally but we are proud to serve Ube as a Filipino business as it's always been a big part of our heritage and not just a trend!

Donuts are not vegan but we will have a range of vegan desserts available on the day too.

After the success of our first Ube day earlier this year we are putting another weekend of it at the end of August ✨

It's also 3 years since we opened YL so this is our little celebration to tie it in 🤗🫶

The amount we are seeing Ube being used everywhere is just a madness ATM so this is a fun way to share and also highlight the origins of Ube from the Philippines as a crop native to our heritage.

Ube is more than just a trend- it's part of our Filipino identity 🇵🇭✨💜

We will also be doing pre orders on donuts this time round too from and putting MORE items on as we sold out of stuff pretty quickly last time. More info to follow soon but just get this date in your diaries!!

Tomorrow is our UBE DAY celebration at Yes Lah!
102 Barlow Moor Road M20 2PN

From 11am you can get a bunch of Ube desserts alongside our menu. We will probably have some items leftover till Sunday too but we predict our Collab items like our Ube donuts from Dgnut (based in Mackie mayor) and our Pandan cookies by Little Wongs Bakes based in LDN will sell out quick and are limited in supplies.

We have stocked the shelves full of Ube retail items, lots of cakes, ice creams and more for the day!

We also have a raffle for you!
If you wear anything purple that gets you an automatic entry to our raffle.
Any purchases made this weekend will also get you an entry to our raffle for you to win some mega things!

Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and some new ones this weekend! We are looking forward to rounding off Filipino food month with this event and we can't wait

Why Ube day?

Well...
Ube is our most popular dessert item at YL. We love it, you love it and the world is now catching on to it. There are pros and cons to that, but we wanted to share this month to inform you about this beloved Yam from The Philippines and end April with a fun filled weekend full of UBE treats to round off Filipino Food Month! 🇵🇭

We are making this super fun by dressing in purple, all the desserts are going to Ube from us and we are collaborating with some amazing people to bring some fun and exciting offerings over the weekend!🤑

Yep... the UBE donuts are BACK from ! For this weekend only✨

Hello! Bit of a random post but thought I'd give a msg to see if anyone would want to get involved.

Every fortnight I cook meals for Eatwell MCR- for anyone who hasn't heard of them they are a charity based in MCR that work with chefs to fundraise and distribute delicious meals cooked by businesses and chefs to those who need it. This goes to schools, hospices, charities etc. for more info about what they do I've attached their website here: https://www.eatwellmcr.org/

I'm just reaching out to see if anyone here would ever want to donate anything that can be used towards these meals..maybe your a business who has rice or pulses (lentils/chickpeas etc) or you grow lots of amazing vegetables and can't use them all and want them to go to use 😊

Unfortunately I cannot collect so it would be a case of dropping it off at the café when we are open or when I am in the café during prep time. The next collection would be Feb 13th and I would be cooking the meals the day before (Weds 12th) so would accept anything next week during service.

In return, you'll get a brew on us that you can either have when you drop things in or I can give a voucher for you to use next time you're about! 🙏💚

This week I made 30 meals which were vegan mushroom & tofu teriyaki rice bowls which I hope will make some bellies very happy. Feel free to msg or email on [email protected] or [email protected] if you want to help or have any ideas!

We had our first feast last night and it was entirely ! 🌴💚🇵🇭

On the menu last night was a FEAST for our guests and it was great to bring a little bit of the tropics of the in the café! Especially during the very grey month of January. Kamayans are such sunshine food and it was great seeing our guests getting stuck in, using no gloves and eating the way with their hands off the banana leaves!

What a feast! So much colour, so vibrant and such good vibes. We also had a particularly busy Sunday which was amazing 🙏 so a big thank you to everyone who called through yesterday for our food during our service.

Big love to the team for their hardwork on a long day- couldnt do it without you! 💜

If you fancy coming to our next Kamayan suppers we do have two dates for February which will be a mixed menu, designed for omnivores in this sharing and communal way of eating.

For now, we shall see you again on Thursday for another week. We havent got any evening bookings for Thurs eve due to our Kimchi workshop but please book for Friday & Saturday night via resos. Remember 10% off on Thurs & Fri evenings too through Jan. Only a few weeks left for this deal!

🌴KAMAYAN SUPPERS🌴

WELL it's been a long time coming and after a year of uhhming and ahhing it's finally here- Kamayans are BACK!
COVID brought a hiatus of some of my favourite supperclubs and since the Kickstarter, Yes Lah hasn't had any more supeprs but they are back! now they will be better than ever.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the term "Kamayan" it translates to eating with your ✨hands✨ in Tagalog

This supperclub is all about enjoying delicious Filipino food on banana leaves and using your hands to eat it. It is truly a wonderful way to enjoy your food and is something you must experience and you will find across the Philippines for celebrations and special occasions. Absolutely buzzing it's coming to Yes Lah and bringing a little slice of Philippines in the heart of Manchester! 🇵🇭

I've been doing these supper clubs since I started putting Filipino food on the map since 2018. They are such a great way to meet new people and make new connections over tasty food. It's also a way to show other delicious and maybe lesser known FIlipino food that we do not serve at the café! there really is a lot more to Filipino food than just Adobo and Ube!

Was going to wait a little further into the week to show this but here's one of the sweet specials that will be on this week! 😍

It's officially autumn so we are now fully in our bun, scarf and hot choc season. I thought it would be nice to introduce some warm now it's getting colder 🧣✨🍁

Here is our warm Apple pie, served with our Ube Ice cream, coconut caramel sauce, crunchy flakes & a sprinkling of cinnamon. The perfect hot and cold dessert, getting us feeling really autumnal and cosy ✨💗

This will also be available with ice cream, so you get the choice. This is entirely vegan too, so everyone can enjoy! 💚😉🇵🇭
