Last week I delivered my first funeral ceremony. It was an absolute privilege to write and speak about a wonderful life lived well.
He was, quite simply, one of a kind. A man who had lived with an extraordinary appetite for life, for people, for adventure, for good food and even better company. A man who filled every room he walked into. β¨
The sun was streaming through the windows of the beautiful Huddersfield Crematorium, and the room was full of people who had loved him completely.
There was real, joyful laughter thanks to some very colourful memories shared. And of course there were tears. Through it all, love was the biggest presence. π·
I felt calm. Focused. Honoured beyond words.
And I was so beautifully supported. The funeral directors, Deborah Ingham Funeral Service, and the team at the gorgeous Huddersfield Crematorium were warm, welcoming and wonderful from start to finish. On a day like this, that matters more than I can say. π
To stand beside a family on one of the hardest days of their lives, to hold the space for their grief and their joy, to say the words that needed to be said. I understand now, more than ever, why I was called to do this work.
This was a big one. A milestone I will carry with me always. And the beginning of something I know, in my heart, I was meant to do. π
If you are looking for someone to honour a person you love, I would be honoured to help.
