A little reminder for anyone working in sound, tech, or DJing:
No matter how well-intentioned you may be, never make changes to another DJ's setup, sound settings, or equipment unless you've been specifically asked to do so.
Tonight, someone entered the DJ booth and made changes while I was working. I fully appreciate that they were trying to help, and there was no bad intention behind it, but the DJ booth is effectively that DJ's workspace. Every DJ has their own setup, sound preferences, and reasons for configuring things the way they have.
Think of it this way: you wouldn't walk into someone else's workplace and start changing their settings, processes, or equipment without being asked.
For anyone new to DJing, this is an important bit of etiquette to learn early. It's especially important not to make adjustments when alcohol has been involved, as even small changes can affect the performance, sound quality, or equipment operation.
We all learn by experience, and this is simply one of those lessons. Respect the booth, respect the DJ, and if you think something needs changing, just ask first. 🎧
