We are delighted to announce that as part of this years Learn to Play event we are able to offer a free 1-hour adult group violin lesson!

Run by Simon Hewitt Jones, whose specialist StringSchool for adult learners has been thriving in London since 2008 and who will be launching its Manchester classes here at Forsyth in January 2027.

This Violin Fundamentals Class will be your introduction to violin playing. In 60 minutes, you will play your first notes on a real violin, learn how to hold the instrument and bow, and get a clear picture of what learning the violin at StringSchool looks like. If you decide to continue, you will be able to follow up with their Starter Violin Programme in the new year.

Please note that this group lesson is only available for adults, we can offer 20 minute 1-to-1 violin lessons for anyone under the age of 18.

The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed a familiar looking background to Alice Cooper's interview in the Telegraph yesterday...

We were delighted to welcome Alice Cooper to Forsyths recently to record the interview, it was an early start for our staff but what else do you do when a legend comes to call? We have got some wonderful pictures of Alice's visit, we'll share more on our blog very soon!

The article requires an account with the Telegraph, but the video interview is up on their youtube account

A little piece of Forsyths history, reproduced on a ceramic mug!

The design features an advertisement originally written and illustrated for Forsyths in the 1970s by British author and illustrator Tony Ross, best known for his work on the Little Princess children's books, Horrid Henry, and his collaborations with David Walliams.

The wonderfully idiosyncratic advertisement captures Forsyths' long association with pianos and music-making, and has been brought back as the first in a series celebrating some of our favourite advertisements from over the years.

Also available in white!
