A quick update from me.
Some of you may have noticed that Beyond Haunted UK has been a little quieter than usual recently.
Before everything else, we were fortunate enough to travel to Pennsylvania and visit Pennhurst. It was an incredible experience to finally explore such a historically significant location and simply soak up the atmosphere. I'll be putting together a video soon to share my thoughts and experiences from the trip.
We drove over 250 miles across rural Pennsylvania to get there and saw some incredible sights along the way. Once again, we completely shot ourselves in the foot by not filming a single second.
I think we're now so used to simply taking in the atmosphere and enjoying the experience that filming always seems to take a back seat. The truth is, we're starting to realise that constantly filming can sometimes take away from the moment.
From exploring Pennhurst itself to meeting some of our favourite creators, including Project Fear and Celina Spooky Boo, I found myself wanting to stay present rather than looking at everything through a camera lens.
We also made some great friends along the way and spent time building connections, I actually have more friends in the US now than I do here at home!
Looking back, I wish we'd captured a little more footage, but I don't regret being fully immersed in the experience.
Not long after returning home, I underwent planned surgery on my nose. While the operation itself went well, the recovery has been more difficult than expected, including a trip to A&E due to complications shortly after being discharged.
As a result, I've made the decision to temporarily pause the podcast while I focus on recovering properly.
The good news is that Beyond Haunted UK isn't going anywhere. I've still been researching, planning future episodes, and looking ahead to our next paranormal adventure in August, where we'll be travelling to Nevada. One location I'm particularly excited to investigate is Nevada State Prison, and I can't wait to share that journey with all of you.
I'm also doing some proper research for my next episode. This will involve a trip to London to examine a book that is over 500 years old at the British Library, as well as viewing a document from the 1500s at The National Archives. It's exactly the sort of deep-dive research that I enjoy and one of the reasons I'm excited about what's coming next for the podcast.
For now, investigations are largely on hold. The current climate and the rising cost of hiring venues are being felt across the paranormal community, and we're certainly seeing that too.
I've released a short audio update today for anyone who would like to hear more.
Thank you for your patience, your support, and for continuing to listen. It genuinely means a lot.
Jamie
