Gayle Evans is a British floral designer that has been taking the British wedding scene by storm with her natural and elegant style. It’s been a torrid love affair comparable to those straight out of the pages of classic novels that I’ve had since day one with all things flora and fauna. There’s just this unfathomable call to me from Mother Nature like Cathy to Heathcliff and I must confess that I

am completely head over heels with all things botany based. To work with flowers seems natural to me , it’s something that stirs an excitement and yet calms my soul. I’m a bee lover, fern fanatic and a foliage enthusiast….I celebrate the beauty in the imperfect and wonky. You can catch me having moments of pure joy when working just like the cone smuggling tomboy of my youth when a curve of a stem is just so awkward it’s just so damn right. To me each flower, leaf and stem needs to have the opportunity to flaunt itself, as if historically documented in a Dutch Masters oil. Being an artist at heart I immerse myself into my work, I do though adore briefs that are loose and let me run riot with my wanderlust to create something fabulous for my clients. When sitting with an engaged couple, corporate client, or stylist I like to work together to bring to fruition something truly personal. It’s not a painting by numbers job that I do and I like to work in a less formal way than most. I approach my briefs with a sense of fun and adventure, and create my best designs when there’s margin left in the budget for me to rock up to market to be presented with the most perfect shade of Sweetpea, or the newest breed of textural Dahlia just in that morning that will fit perfectly. In this job Mother Nature can scupper sometimes even the best-laid plans, therefore a modicum of trust and belief is needed.
