📸✨ Discover Claude Cahun at Maidstone Museum! ✨📸

Explore the work of French photographer Claude Cahun, who challenged traditional ideas of gender and identity through her striking self-portraits. Born Lucy Schwob, she adopted her pseudonym in 1917 to break free from societal norms.

This exhibition features 42 contemporary prints made from scans of her rare original photos, showcasing her surreal, bold style that anticipated modern artists like Cindy Sherman.

Don’t miss this powerful celebration of q***r art and identity, part of Maidstone Pride! The exhibition opens tomorrow (24 May) and runs through June.

🚫 POLITICAL ACTIVITY AT PRIDE 2025

Maidstone Pride is a community-run and community-funded Pride, led by a volunteer collective of LGBTQIA+ Individuals. Our community and Allies support us in creating a brighter and more inclusive Maidstone, and we can’t be bought.

This year, we are suspending all political party participation, including any political representation at Maidstone Pride and its events.

We are not a platform for political gain and reject attempts by parties to co-opt the struggles and oppression of LGBTQIA+ individuals for political benefit. Pride is a protest, rooted in resistance, defiance, and our collective fight for liberation.

Maidstone Pride also rejects all forms of Pinkwashing. Companies and organisations adding a rainbow to their logo or products while failing to support LGBTQIA+ communities in real, material ways are not welcome. Our spaces are created for and by our community, not for corporate tick-box exercises.
