The Nightmare Before Christmas is a stop-motion animated film directed by Henry Selick and produced by Tim Burton, released in 1993. The film follows Jack Skellington, the Pumpkin King of Halloween Town, who becomes bored with his usual spooky routine and stumbles upon Christmas Town. Tamsin is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and film-maker with roots in the traditional dance tunes of the British Isles. Tamsin’s trio features long term collaborators Sid Goldsmith on cittern and concertina and Rowan Elliott on fiddle.

Welsh folk musician Owen Shiers will be opening for Tamsin, unveiling a new body of compositional work.

Tamsin Elliott Trio

Tamsin is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and film-maker with roots in the traditional dance tunes of the British Isles. Her debut solo album FREY (Penny Fiddle Records, 2022) established her as a rising star on the folk scene, with The Guardian praising her “beautiful, filmic compositions for accordion, harp, whistle and voice”. Exploring themes of chronic illness and environmental grief, FREY offers a poignant reflection on the human experience, whilst her forthcoming album The Meeting Tree celebrates connection, nature and the joy of sharing tunes with friends. Tamsin’s trio features long term collaborators Sid Goldsmith on cittern and concertina and Rowan Elliott on fiddle.

Welsh folk musician Owen Shiers will be opening for Tamsin, unveiling a new body of compositional work, the culmination of a yearlong program supported by Sound and Music. This work was made possible by Sound and Music’s In Motion programme. In Motion 2024 is supported by Arts Council England, Jerwood Foundation, Garrick Club Charitable Trust, PRS Foundation, Michael Guest & Marchus Trust.

An opportunity to listen to wonderful music from the 18th and early 19th centuries played on two historic harps made in the period.

"Having played the modern concert harp professionally for many years, I would like to share the joy of playing music on authentic, original instruments, – discussing aspects of playing the two historic harps in my collection. I relied on the old harps – and music from their time – to guide me. It has been a labour of love and a revelation – as the sound and playing techniques are very different to the modern harp. I am grateful for the help that I have received from distinguished early music experts and try to follow their advice."
