The Lyng Fling will be at Lyng Playing Field today, Saturday 13th September, raising money for Lyng Village Hall and some other great causes in our community. Come along and join the fun!
If you're coming from further afield, please note that Lyng Road is βCLOSEDβ as you leave the A47 at Tuddenham, and the signed diversion uses tiny back-roads. We therefore recommend travelling through to the A1067 Fakenham Road and accessing Lyng from there.
πThe main event car park is signposted off site at Cadders Hill, just a short walk away. Limited disabled parking at the playing field only. Thank you!π

History of the Project...
1951 saw the conveyance of land from the Sayer family. In 1953 the original building was built and used as a village hall and ex-servicemen's club for Lyng and nearby Sparham, and was registered as a charity in 1966.
By the 1990's the hall was becoming tired and a team of volunteers started fundraising for a new hall. In 2011 a full structural survey report revealed the building was not fit for purpose, and so a new project team of dedicated volunteers started work on getting Lyng a new village hall.
βAfter a couple of failed attempts at Stage 1 to apply for funding from the National Lottery Community Fund in 2013 and 2014, a third application was successfully accepted at Stage 1 in November 2015.
Lottery Success...
On 13th June 2017 we were incredibly pleased and proud to announce that our application to the National Lottery Community Fund was successful and our community was awarded a grant of Β£744,516 to build a new village hall.
A New Hall Is In Sight...
In January 2018 the old hall was demolished and after much hard work and effort from the Building Team and main contractor Draper Nichols Ltd the new hall opened 15 months later in April 2019.
Thank you...
Sincere thanks go to all the people and businesses that supported, volunteered and donated to our new village hall project.
