World Elephant Day — 12 August

We share the land with giants. In Tanzania and Kenya, our routes cross their home.

Back to Borneo - October 2027

It's been too long since we've offered Borneo. October brings clear skies and gibbons calling at dawn. The rainforest canopy creates its own climate - cool and green, even in the heat of the day.

Ten days, five trekking through some of what remains of their world. The trail winds through ancient forest where wild orangutans still live. When an orangutan looks at you with soulful eyes that seem to really see you. These beautiful beings teach their young for eight years; they know which plants heal, and move through the trees like they're solving puzzles. The philosophers of the forest. The world is losing them. Your fundraising can directly support their survival.

Giant ferns unfurl beside the trail. Pitcher plants hang like lanterns. Orchids bloom in impossible places. The forest that's sheltered them for millions of years.

At Sepilok, orphaned babies learn what their mothers should have taught them. Each one a consequence of palm oil... and progress.
