WE DID IT!
50 amazing businesses came together last year to gift a whole wedding to an NHS worker. It feels like just yesterday that the words ‘what if we could give someone their dream wedding?’ escaped my mouth! Yesterday was the culmination of nearly 18 months of organising and planning and I couldn’t be happier with how it went! I don’t think I’ll ever have the words to explain how happy and proud I am of every single business that got involved in the competition. Everyone of you were completely selfless, you went that extra mile to ensure that Kelly and Tim had the most special day.
To the competition suppliers: I LOVE YOU! All of you have a very special place in my heart for trusting me to pull this off, it was no mean feat and you each put your full confidence in me to plan the competition. I’m blown over by your trust, faith, confidence, support and - ultimately - friendship. You’re all incredible humans who gave so much at a time when you had so little. I wish I could thank you all enough.
To our winners: Mr and Mrs Sammons! I can’t find the words to describe how elated I am that you were our winners. From that first phone call with Kelly (sorry I tricked you in to thinking you were just finalists!) I KNEW we had chosen right! Once I met you both the first time and told you that you’d won, there was absolutely zero doubt that we had selected the most amazing couple for this once in a lifetime prize. Every time I met you after that and with every phone call and text (there have been a lot!!!) I just felt further confirmation that not only are you an incredible couple who share a genuinely rare and pure love, but that you are each incredible human beings. Your kindness, selflessness, courage, strength, determination, humility and love shines through in everything you do. You not only represent everything that our emergency services should be - the best of humanity - but you represent what love is. You are soul mates and everyone around you can’t help but smile when they’re around you because that love shines out. It is infectious.
It was an honour and a privilege to watch you yesterday and share in your day as your dream came true and you became husband and wife. Your family will forever have a special place in my heart and the hearts of my family.
